Tom and Terry

All that is fine with Morningstar. It has value. But then you have to bring in another coach who can actually develop these recruits. Make him the recruiting director and bring in someone fresh. If that doesn't work, cut Telford loose or move Terry to the HWC to open up a spot.

He strikes me as a guy who would be a much better head coach than assistant. He fits the CEO model well from all accounts. Hope he gets an opportunity soon.

An analogy I’ll put out for consideration — catchers are seldom the most athletic or flashy players with huge offensive stats and name recognition, but they often make great coaches.

Maybe M* is a catcher. Where his own personal offensive skill/experience/name falls short, he makes up for it in spades with intellect and ability to communicate effectively, manage different personalities, and connect with people.
I've never seen a post from you but I can agree on this. I just feel that there are other guys that can do what M* is good at but give us so much more in other areas.

Both of those things should happen. Terry to the HWC and Telford down the road.

Lol.... Some of us are around the team more than others. Why is it that you think our hammers, Ramos, Metcalf, McD, StJohn, Borschel, you know the Iowa style guys aren't here and we have a guy like M* that wrestled slow as hell and took 1 shot a match as our coach. I'll hang up and listen. Metcalf and Ramos would both be huge upgrades over M* in every way. Why aren't they here?
What is your connection with the program? And you didn’t answer my question with any facts or knowledge. Your response was 100% speculative.

He has no connection.
Member of HAWK, go to practices regularly, know the staff and a few of the wrestlers personally. Follow the team all over every year. Open tournaments, all duals, B1G's, NCAA's, season tickets for a long while. Donate to the university. The list goes on. The Iowa wrestling program deserves better than what is happening now. You all make excuses, I want better for this program and if you think M*, Telford, Dennis and 2 mid 50's coaches is gonna get us to the promised land you are mistaken.

Sure

Not to have an opinion, but I think the Cesspool, NCAA, and societal norms have now banned the use of valid points or acceptance of other's valid points. Oddly, nobody has appealed yet, so tread lightly.
isn't that what you are doing, you give your opinion then others give their opinion back and you claim they are being unexcepting of your opinion.

Tom, Terry, and Morningstar are under contract through 2026. There's no way any change is made prior to then unless they voluntarily step down. That's the reality.
I know, and it's unfortunate. Things are being done or trying to anyway. We'll see if they are here that long. Terry and M* anyway.

My guess is this has a lot to do with PSU having the money plan to keep their guys in town. If you’re going to make less going somewhere to be a top tier assistant why leave?

I don’t know the guy who backed Beat the Streets, and I don’t think he has anything to do with PSU, but I know he’s the kind of financial guy who has the Capitol to get all the banks and investors to back him when he makes a move. And when you’re a capital investor like that you guarantee yourself returns well over 10% when you get behind something. Why all the banks back him.

My point is, someone injected a lot of financial capital into PSU wrestling and they made it payoff. Something we could do in Iowa but we need that big influx of cash.
Yes … that is a “guess”. If you think that big money is the primary reason for the PSU assent, … you are kidding yourself. Ira’s money was catalyst for getting Cael to come to PSU, but, Cael’s philosophy and coaching style have built the program to where it is.

Your love crush with Metcalf instantly discredits you. If you were really connected to the program you'd know Metcalf is more invested in hunting than coaching.

Money is what got it started and made it possible but yes he has created a culture of winning so it’s a lot easier now. Developing Blue Chip lb per lb top 10’s is a lot easier to do than developing guys not in the top 10 or even 50 for that matter. I am really hoping for Cox to make a move this way to help his cousin. That being said I really don’t want Star to go. He knows how to relate to kids may not be the biggest name and may not be the most dynamic guy wrestler we ever had but he has the heart and mental toughness to make up for it.

I've known Brent from his first days here. I also know he loves deer hunting. That doesn't change the fact of who he is and what he was to this program. His name is synonymous with Iowa wrestling and Iowa style. He would teach our guys that style. What did all you clowns love about TnT? The style they wrestled. He would do wonders with the middleweights we have. M* not so much.
