Because Bull Durham, like Jerry Maguire, is a chick flick disguised as a sports movie. Pure evil. This probably belongs in the unpopular opinions thread, but Bull Durham is a boring movie.
1. Worlds Fastest Indian
2. Rocky
3. Greatest Game Ever Played
4. Rudy
5. Remember the Titans
Damn good list.Hard to come up with a top 5, but just off the top of me head:
Rocky
Field of Dreams
Pride of the Yankees
Brian’s Song
Bull Durham
others I might put in at various times include: Hoosiers, Eight Men Out, Bang the Drum Slowly, Raging Bull, A League Of Their Own...
Let it Ride is a great, underrated movie. Robbie Coltrane is fantastic. So is Michelle Phillips. And so are Jennifer Tilly.I should probably do this. Stand back.
Let it Ride
Diggstown
Seabiscuit
Rocky
The Natural
Don't hate it but it knocks the shine off when you get the story and learn that a player revolt, supported by his own assistants, led to Boone's firing in the late 70's.And for the record, I hate Remember the Titans. It is the absolute worst pile of Hollywood cliche crap ever made.
Moneyball
Senna
North Dallas Forty - You know Delma, he don’t like the needles.
Bad News Bears - Let’s not bring race into this Ahmad.
Vision Quest
I have never seen Senna.
Mystery, Alaska is sneaky good.In no particular order:
Moneyball
Jerry Maguire
Tin Cup
Rocky
Miracle
HM: Mystery, Alaska and The Final Season
Poker is not a sport. The Hustler
Rounders
The Color of Money
Beerfest
Bloodsport
Mystery, Alaska is sneaky good.
Major league (only the original)
Bull Durham
Friday Night Lights
Eight Men Out
The Program
Would also like to add Eastbound and Down in the series category
If you have any interest in F1 it’s very good. Even if you don’t, it’s an interesting watch from his rise, to his feud with Mansell, to his death at Imola.
Field of Dreams
- Major League
- The Perfect Game
- Hoosiers
- Rudy
- Bad News Bears
Caddyshack
Hoosiers
North Dallas Forty
The Program
Youngblood
Youngblood is a classic 80s gem.
Mystery, Alaska is sneaky good.
Major league (only the original)
Bull Durham
Friday Night Lights
Eight Men Out
The Program
Would also like to add Eastbound and Down in the series category
Invincible was pretty good. They just REALLY embellished the actual story, though. Papale wasn't as "down and out" as he was portrayed. He was a semi-pro player who was sort of a ringer in the open tryouts that Vermeil had in Philly when he got there. He played for the Philadelphia Bell. The Wrestler
Invincible
Cinderella Man
Days of Thunder
Warrior
Honorable mention:
Bingo Long and His Traveling All Stars and Motor Kings is a great lesser known movie. I love that freewheeling, barn storming era.
Bad News Bears is still #1 for me.
A Great Movie.Even more than Rudy. And Rudy sucks.
All kinds of references in that movie to the real Rudy including putting him in the stands behind Ned Beatty.
Forgot about One on One.Underrated movie IMHO:
One on One (Robby benson and Annette o’Toole)
