Touissant

We have way too many scholarship players coming back next season, if everyone stays, the NCAA will start an investigation. I'd be quite happy if Pemsi and Till would quietly go away. We lose Kriener and Evelyn, that would be 4 scholarships that we could use for the incoming freshmen and with Bohannan returning, hopefully, since we're 1 scholarship short this year that would make 13. Fran is not going to take away the scholarships from his 2 sons. not going to happen....

Fran has already gone on record as saying he would do that so its definitely an option.

Hes not going to do it for Till obviously and I wouldn't be surprised If Pemsl just hangs it up after this year or possibly transfers.

If CP wants to stay Frans not going to kick him off and in that case the extra guy would be JBO.

In that scenario Fran will pay for Jordan to be on the team. First and foremost because Fran would be the primary beneficiary of that arrangement.

Have you seen the bonuses Fran gets for making the tournament? He stands to make 10 times his investment.

I'm guessing here, but if Fran was totally committed to improving the roster, he would be paying for his sons and not using scholarships to keep from spending any of his payroll...it use to be that siblings had free tuition but that might be an archaic policy....
Don't think you meant siblings. prob. meant offspring. Lute's long harangue when he left Iowa included a complaint that Univ. employees' kids didn't get free tuition..

+/- isn't everything, but Joe was a -15 for this game.

Yeah, that stat can be very misleading. It depends who's on the floor with him at times. For instance, I believe he was in the floor one time with Kriener, Pemsl and Connor. Those aren't the 3 best scoring threats to put him in the floor with. Kriener had a quick 8 points and didn't score the rest of the way I believe. Again, it can be a misleading stat.

The players have to be available.

Till has a one year ship now simply because there is no one else available that was worth giving a 4 year offer to.

Definitely. He is growing and improving, but still a long ways to go. Hopefully CJ isn't dinged too badly because we really need him.

Somehow the team needs to scratch out 9 more league wins. That should be enough to get them on the right side of the bubble. JT is going to have to play a major role if they're going to have a chance.

This is already one crazy season. And we are only 3 games into the conference season. I have no doubt in my mind that w/a healthy CJ we are no worse than a 6-7 seed. That is right now. However, w/17 games to go and still no word on CJ, I'm becoming increasingly pessimistic. If he's healthy, I still think we get in. If not, I think we are in big trouble. This means even more on Joe T's shoulders, which in the long run is great, but this means even more minutes for Luka and Joe W, and we saw how wiped out they both were at the end of that high intensity game. I prefer the 4 guard lineup w/Joe T vs Nunge myself, as I thought him and Luka were just awful defensively together, but we certainly could have used him right now. I guess we will just see what the status is moving forward for CJ.

Healthy CJ means likely NCAA birth. If JBo had been able to gut it out, would have helped make it a lock. The lack of guard depth is the killer. Losing Nunge had one initial positive effect in that it made Fran player Kriener more and also made Fran consider the 4 guard lineup--something he never has done before. I think Fran would have kept Nunge starting at the 4 and lost 2-3 more games to this point. Obviously, a healthy Nunge would be great help now, if he were used to replace Pemsl minutes.

Pemsl shouldt turn it around this season, but his health issues/turnovers are making for rough play so far. He had such a nice post game as a Freshman. Now doesn't seem like he can get his shot off in low post and not looking for his shots, opponents are playing the passing lanes and picking off his passes.

Fran looks to have a great team setup for next year, assuming Garza comes back. I think good chance Garza does..he is such a stud at college level, he should enjoy the fame. Garza looks like 1st Team All American right now.

Not sure about CJ's status for tomorrow's game, but I do know that Kriener can't score a quick eight points and then disappear for the rest of the game, which amounted to about 30 minutes of game time. We need a more consistent presence from him, especially now.

Kriener also got hurt during the game.
