Curious to hear who everyone thinks might be on their way out this off-season.

For me personally, I think Williams is all but gone at this point. I think hes signed sealed and delivered. Watching the kid play, he just looks defeated on the court and it looks like he knows hes the weak link. If you pay any attention, defenders immediately attack Williams as soon as he gets in the game; cant say the same for Jbo.

Other than that I'm really unsure. Maybe Dailey? maybe Ellingson? there was a lot of talk around Wagner during the season but he really turned it on later in the year and was an important asset to this team.

I think Williams starts at the PG next year with JOBo moving to the 2
Now that would be a big surprise to me. At PG, replace a guy who averaged almost 5 assists per game (averaged 11 over last 3 games) with another guy who dribbles around the perimeter and has no idea on how to distribute the ball?

In order of possibly leaving:

1. Dailey- wasted a year behind Williams, Moss, Bohannon, and Ellingson. Might transfer closer to home and for a smaller school. He can still use a redshirt year. Never saw the floor and wonder if he is Big Ten Material.

2. Williams- I could see him leave and go to a UIC or Loyola type school. The kid has the size and tools, just can't seem to transfer it to game situation. I mean 6-7 and able to attack the rim. But he has no outside shot.

3. Kreiner- HE saw limited action this year, wonder whats going to happen next year when we add 2 more players in the post. Minutes are going to be hard to come by. The kid looked good in spurts, but also struggled on defense (like all freshman). I could see him leave to pursue more playing time.

4. UHL- Makes zero sense to transfer, but he might not see the floor next year. If he can't become more aggressive and contribute something on the offensive end of the floor, what's the point of having him out there.

Just my 2 cents. I don't know if anyone will leave or not. I think at least 1 player leaves.

I agree with this.

I don't see anyone transferring, but if someone was to transfer then Daily is the most likely candidate sicne he sat on the Pine most of the season.

Approximately 700 (from approximately 350 total teams) basketball players transferred last season from their programs. That said, it would make sense that 2 kids will transfer from every team. Just part of the game now.

Kriener is a kid that has some potential, but no way does he take minutes from Pemsl or Cook who will see time on the floor at the same time next year. Add in the two incoming freshman and I dont see where the minutes come from for Kriener.

He is one that could do well with a redshirt year. If he transfers I would assume there would be some interest.

Did anyone predict that Fleming would transfer last year? My recollection is that the board consensus was that Ellingson was the main candidate predicted to transfer.

Odds are that there will be least one, but who knows who it might be? Moss, Williams and Dailey are all in the running to take a big chunk of Jok's minutes.

I don't mean this to sound as harsh as it probably will, but I've seen enough of Williams to know he's not a contributor to this team. He has no offense, can't even really dribble, and the only pass he throws is sideways to a wing (that had to come help him because he dribbled doing nothing for 5 seconds).

When Fran decides to put Williams, Uhl, Ellingson, Pemsl, and Wagner on the floor at the same time, I just shake my head in wonder of where he thinks the offense will come from?

One of the commentators said it the other day about Williams just dribbling around not doing anything.

There were multiple times late in the season he just dribbled back and forth and made no attempt to go at the hoop or do anything productive with the ball. He had a stretch over the last 4 games of the regular season when he played with Bohannon where he looked good defensively and they looked good on the floor together but it wouldn't be a big loss if he left imo.

whos your number 1 guy to transfer suterman

I hope they all stay Brandon. We know Dale Jones and Peter Jok are gone. I guess Maishe Dailey just because of his lack of PT this year but I really hope he stays.

Based on the returning roster and incoming scholarship commitments, doesnt someone have to leave?

Even if Connor joins as a walk on, it is impossible to play all 14 guys on the roster.
Don't think they have to leave, but playing is something else. The question for each player is do they believe they can, will work harder to surpass someone in order to do so and will they accept being part of a team while getting a good education, whether they start , come off the bench, wait their turn, cover up for injuries and be supportive no matter the outcome. Each player needs to decide that for themselves.

Everyone except Connor has a scholarship. Jok obviously is done and Jones won't be coming back, that's why Iowa signed 2, not too mention at least one other will leave. Question is if someone leaves does Connor get the scholarship, someone else (grad transfer), or bank it. I could see it being Williams, Dailey, or Moss in that order.

I think Williams starts at the PG next year with JOBo moving to the 2
Curious, what did you see this year that would lead you to that assumption? Williams started the year at the point, and basically showed he couldn't get the job done. Jbo takes over and proceeds to have one of the greatest seasons ever for a Iowa freshman point guard, getting progressively better as the season goes on. In Iowa's final three games Jbo scores 67 points and had 34 assists with three consecutive double, doubles. Meanwhile Williams looks like he can't find his butt with both hands, but you think he'll be the starter at point guard next season? OK then...........

I had the same thought the other day. Unless we could get ii in tight to Pemsl, I had no idea who was going to score from that lineup.

Moss? That would be a huge loss. I know there are games where he doesn't play much in the second half, but he should have every chance to be one of the main scorers next year. He's so close to breaking out big time. Remember Moss is only a redshirt freshman. It would be a huge mistake for him to start over somewhere else, and he's already sat out a year.

Moss starts for a Power 5 conference team and started 28 straight games. Why on God's green earth would he transfer?

Also worth noting that Moss started at the 3, where Baer gets his minutes. With Jok gone, he will be getting a bulk of his minutes at the 2....I think Wagner starts at 3 with Baer coming off the bench and playing a majority of the minutes there.

Not to mention with Joks departure, the path is wide open for him to put his stamp on the next three years of Iowa basketball. The time is now Mr. Moss!

Wagner is a role player with his next to nothing offensive ability.

Go back and watch us play. We need either Wagner or Baer on the floor at all times for energy/effort and defense. Basketball is not all about what you can do on the offense end of the floor. With JBo, Moss, Cook and Pemsl/Kreiner at the 5 there is plenty of offense to the point where Ahmad just needs to focus on D and crashing the glass on both ends.

He is a role player 10-15 min a game for that "spark". But he has no shot making ability or back to the basket type of game other then blowing by a defender or put backs and he shoots 48% from FT's.

Just don't see that, and I love Ahmad's effort and hard work, but don't see him as our best option to play the three, a position for which he has no real skill set. Great teammate, but he's an undersized four with out the low post game of Cook or Pemsl. He'll probably play some minutes somewhere, but if the young bigs continue to progress, and Garza and Nunge are as avertised, are you really going to play Wagner or Uhl many minutes at the three or four, and have Cook, Pemsyl , Baer, Nunge, sitting on the bench?

I agree he will get 10-15 minutes...I just think he starts and we bring Baer off the bench and he will play most of the minutes, just like this year. Starting doesn't mean a thing and too many people get caught up in it....and I never said that Ahmad had shot making ability, just that his value to the team is much more than you seem to think it is, because his value has nothing to do with his abilities on the offensive end.

I guess we are talking semantics then really. I don't really care if he starts I guess, but if he is playing more than 10 minutes a game probably not going to be an overall positive since he is NOT an option in half court sets.

Do we need him to be an option in half court sets?...No, we need him to play defense and hit the boards....we have plenty of offense on this team.

We also have more and more players coming or who can take his spot that are capable of BOTH. That is my point.

That's a big leap for kids who haven't played a minute of college ball yet....

Look, I am a big fan of both Nunge and Garza, but history tells me that an overwhelming percentage of Freshmen struggle defensively. It's a huge adjustment stepping up to major college ball. Even Woody, who was a terrific defensive big man was lost his Fr year....

Again, its great that Nunge can step out and hit some 3s...its great that Garza has a nice jump hook, but this team needs defense! Our team plays significantly better defense with either Wagner and/or Baer on the floor.

Not just referencing them. Kriener as well could take some of those minutes since he is long and can make shots as well.
