Why doesn't any of these top guys transfer to Iowa ? Who was the last one to do it.
I do think Iowa gets fewer than many. I know they missed out on a few because they had strict transfer rules
Ray Brinzer and Tom Ryan, I believe. Why doesn't any of these top guys transfer to Iowa ? Who was the last one to do it.
Metcalf, Borschel, Slaton, LeClare, Leet
wtf is wrong with you guys
So typical of Iowa fans. Always whoa is me..But in reality those 4 alone are better transfers than most teams have gotten.Metcalf, Borschel, Slaton, LeClare, Leet

IIRC- started at WI and then came to Iowa and at some point and time, may or may not have gone to Northwestern (perhaps just went to a Cubs Game) and is back at Iowa.Didn't Laux transfer to Wisconsin (I believe it was Wisconsin) and then transfer back to Iowa?
Cayle Byers, well, not so much.I do think Iowa gets fewer than many. I know they missed out on a few because they had strict transfer rules
You know they were never able to get him in right?Cayle Byers, well, not so much.

I am not sure why we don't see more Grad Transfers like ISU Basketball just seems to get every year now. There has to be some AA Round of 12 type somewhere with a year of eligibility left that Iowa can plug and play immediately.
You know they were never able to get him in right?
Because you guys don't need to. Plus, if a guy is R12 or so, unless there is a coaching change, he wouldn't want to go anywhere. Why would he?
Work for highway dept and farm. How exactly do you farm a road?
Well for Grad School for one. Maybe their school doesn't offer it.
Other reasons,
1. New coaches to improve, maybe they soaked up as much as they can in that environment. Maybe they just don't like the coach they committed to after a few years.
2. To wrestle in front of 15k
3. For a legit chance at a team championship.
4. Better workout partners.
5. To be on TV way more. Family can watch easier.
I hope you are not an Iowa coach being so quick to dismiss all avenues. This seems to be a main cog in what ISU basketball has been doing and Hoiberg was a bit ahead of the curve on this. One and done' ers on the back end can be just as important as Duke, Kansas getting them on the front end. I will take a Russell Wilson type athlete for just one year. Why would Russell have ever left NC State you must ask?
If you are recruiting, this has to be one of your tools nowadays. Im surprised it hasn't hit wrestling as much quite yet. But I can garuantee Cael has explored this with holes in his lineups for an upcoming season. Wouldn't surprise me to see him pull some stud from a lesser school someday. He already used ISU as a farm system once. Im sure some Clarion kid who wants to go to happy valley for a grad program will happen at some point.
Down fall is its not as abundant since wrestlers are weight based versus just throwing 5 guys on a court for playing time. But still, Iowa has 2-3 holes every year.
Not sure what you are alluding to? You saying PSU has more scholarship money to give out than other schools?I agree with what you are saying. But two points:
1. You guys don't need to do it to win.
2. You have to have scholarship money in the spring (in most cases)...PSU cough cough
Thanks for the clarification.Work for highway dept and farm.

Truthfully

No. I'm not alluding to anything like that.
PSU has more money than everybody else to give out within NCAA rules is what i'm saying.
Edit to add: Wrestling is the ONLY NCAA sport that allows booster funding of post graduate athletes. Only one.
Its a level playing field. PSU just has more money is all.

Some one along the lines like a McKenna, Bryce Meredith type who wants to go to Dental, Law, Business grad program and wants a legit chance at a team title.
TJ Williams, a Junior College transfer if memory serves (?).
Spooner just can't help himself! hahaHuh? We literally had two NCAA champs transfer in long after TJ.
Spooner just can't help himself! haha
One of the Kistlers came from ASU.one or more Kistlers came from UCLA.
