Trouble brewing in Ames. Caleb Grill kicked off team

So many lies on this board. Listen to the Iowa Everywhere podcast with Chris Hassel from yesterday. No racial slurs. He’s still a student at ISU and has access to all the help he needs. He’s not sleeping with any coaches wives.

This board is a cesspool.
Yet another whiney little Clown coming on here to vent. Because there aren't many details from ISU, these rumors are flying around everywhere.....not just this board.

And I wouldn't waste my time listening to anything relating to your dog-sh&t program......unless it was to laugh at another Polturd press conference throwing a hissy-fit about the refs. 😂 🤡

This is the ISU athletics' program story for 22/23...football meltdown winning 4 games. WBB meltdown and fading at season's end after being in top ten. MBB...see recap of women's season.

See a pattern?

Doesn't matter what you it

It looked like something that was poorly planned and executed.

It's media availability on Thursday morning, it's a regular, scheduled thing and it happens every Thursday morning of the basketball season. Same time same place. Most of the time people don't record it and put out the video because it's mostly for journos to get a few questions off for the articles they are writing.

In all seriousness, I reached out to a friend of a friend who lives in Ames and knows some people.
What I was told was Grill had been calling out TJ for being a shitty coach based on some low level coach drawing up plays, Green being the defensive mastermind, them generally sucking on offense, the losing streak etc.
Can’t argue with the kid and it’s no wonder no clowns want to say it out loud.

The scene yesterday just looked amateurish and cobbled together.

I guess I expect more from a D-1 program.

Maybe that's just me?

This isn't true.

Well his
Then please enlighten with what it is since you are in the know all.

TJ runs a tight ship. Caleb is the 4th guy kicked off for not meeting team standards. This wasn't just a one off thing.

He and Caleb have a very good relationship, more than most players and coaches. No offense, I trust that more than guy who heard from his best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend about from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl who saw Caleb pass-out at 31 Flavors last night.

Should have stopped at 30.

Fair enough. He doesn’t seem like a BS artist and it rings true.
I will say that I’m pretty sure you would say ‘This isn’t true’ to anything.
Also, I doubt you know the truth yourself and are just being a good soldier.

Boothe, who was Caleb’s roommate last year said Grill had his demons, but he’s a really nice kid.

Doesn’t sound like he knows what happened, but of course, he doesn’t have the connections that ISUBryceC has…

Maybe Grill is just taking one for the team. His departure will give ISU an excuse for getting blown out by Baylor, losing their first game in Big12 tourney, and losing a play-in game in the NCAA tourney. Or who knows, maybe a first round NIT loss.

Almost all the comments on this board were in support of Patrick & his issues. As our resident expert, please provide examples otherwise.
Are you kidding? You don't need to be an expert to see post after post stating that Patrick needs to be benched, usually in favor of Dix. For my part, Patrick doesn't even look well. Might be a new medication, but if you look at his official team picture and him now, there's a world of difference. I just want the best for him, whatever that might be.

And regarding the Grill/ISU situation. The kid is obviously distraught over being removed from the team. I would hope that Otzelberger would find it in his heart to give the kid another chance. We've all said things we've regretted and being a part of the Clones seems to be such a major part of his life. Unless he is a real cancer to his teammates and they don't want him back, it might be an uplifting experience for a team that is clearly struggling right now.

And those are my "expert" opinions!

Pointing out that he shouldn't be playing 22 minutes a game the way he's been playing has absolutely nothing to do with the overwhelming support he was shown when his anxiety issues were announced. You don't really think having mental health issues absolves someone from performance critiques in a high profile team game like bten bball, do you?

I'm one of the many who is worried that playing all these minutes and in the most critical points in the game might not be good for his anxiety. He's clearly not himself

I’m not kidding….you’re just not bright enough to realize that commenting on his play & his mental health issues are different things.

Exactly….old Ronman might also be on some new meds.

There could be a serious ADA problem if he was disciplined for an uncontrolled outburst caused by a real mental illness.

Feel sorry for the kid if his story is true. Happy for the Clown reaction. Just ads to the pirate ship image.

Yeah, demons are funny like that.
If the mental health problems were a known issue, this is not a good look for TJ.

Why I agree this is a cesspool. Hawk fans slandering a coach or player with no evidence or first hand knowledge. Classy, not

You're right. We should look to model ourselves like the modicum of restraint and truth that CyFan is!

Well there is always 2 sides to every story. Claiming mental health issues while simultaneously being kicked off the team is weird to say the least. Not in the same stratosphere as Patrick. Either ISU program has some serious explaining to do or the young man made a huge series of mistakes and has claimed (valid or not) mental health issues. Who am I to say whether mental health issues at play here? But getting kicked off simultaneously smells fishy. Both can happen but every sane individual has to be responsible for their individual behavior. Some on this board need to stop acting like the moral dog whistle.

Speculating that someone is making up a mental health issue is pretty low.
Claiming that an entire program is kicking a player off the team due to mental health issues without justification is unquestionably lower mouth-breather.

Is this their normal process? Internal issues, no loss of games, dismissal?
I would think that an internal, game(s) suspension then dismissal would be my process.

Minus serious legal or other serious offenses.

Once ISU loses to Baylor and then in the first round of the Big 12 tournament, will they even make the tournament?
