True Detective Season 4

Right, but I don't think that was Annie's body, since the police found it with all the stab wounds. But the location in the video on her phone was not next to a shipping container where she was found.

Could be, though.
True. Perhaps the "she" who is awake was the polar bear. Still doesn't explain the tongue, unless the weirdo (Clark?) kept it as a keepsake and dropped it for symbolistic purposes.

I think Pete is a pretty interesting character. Green cop, stuck to the bitch work. Abusive father, shitty boss. Native Inuit wife. Wants to be a good father, be a good husband but is stuck between his job and home life. Lot of layers there.

Definite things they're setting up:
-Danver's step daughter to go missing, kidnapped, killed, something by miners
-Navarro is losing her mind, and they'll prob blame it on her getting her ass beat or hereditary
-Pete is either going to do something for Danvers and get killed, or ignore Danvers and get someone else killed
-Qavik knows something/recognized the stone, likely going to try to divert Navarro
-Keep going back to rose, but no info besides she used to be a professor somewhere?

Things that I'm losing interest in:
-Prior's relationship with his wife.
-Navarro's sister - and the odd timeline that she was found in. Naked bitch walked into the sea and coast guard knew who to call within hours??
-The same repetition and dialogue every episode
-Cringe shit like "We need to talk about the video now".. or "I prayed so hard my knees turned black"

This was one of the most intense scenes I have watched in any shows. When McAdams’ character was composing herself at the end of it, I could feel that as a viewer.
I didn't watch season 2 because of the bad reviews and there's too much "Captain Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and Ensign Liebowitz beam down to Planet Neutron, which one doesn't come back alive" vibe to that scene.

Rando's getting blown away all around the obvious main characters who don't get touched. Phony.

I watched the first few episodes and just.. couldn't get into it.

I had to watch it 3 times as I started zoning out. But I did like it the 3rd time. Sans the ghost and his little dance to point the lady in the right direction. WTF ever…

I think HBO is kind of tripling down on a “caught lightning in a bottle” creator. Amazing they dropped series like Lewis and Clark and Masters of Air for this shit.

Dirty water, local mine, crazy people. Mad Hatter disease vibes.
Could be some of that going on in tandem, but it doesn’t explain all of the phenomena external to one’s perception of reality. I never heard of the disease before today, and didn’t realize what the reference was to Alice in wonderland. So, thanks for that!

Remember, because the Superbowl sunday, they're airing episode 5 tonight.

Thanks Thank You GIF by BLKBOK

I loved the first two episodes but feel like 3 and 4 introduced alot of different threads that hopefully lead somewhere. A bit annoying because there’s almost too much to keep track of.

There’s only 6 episodes?

As noted by others in this thread, the last episode was just ok, other than that freaky shit at the end with the dead person jump scare.

This is my introduction to the True Detective series of shows, and quite frankly there are so many loose ends and storyline trajectories in this season I have absolutely no idea how they will tie all of this together in some coherent and reasonable way.

If it ends up being an environmental toxin/poison/pollution as the cause for all of these strange events and the supernatural stuff experienced by the various characters is explained away as a result of their exposure to it, well suffice it to say I'm going to be a bit pissed over the lazy plot formulation and conclusion. It would reek of Bobby Ewing's "death" on Dallas or the conclusion of St. Elsewhere.

Go watch Season 1 now.

Plan on binge watching it because you wont be able to stop. It’s up there with Band of Brothers and Lonesome Dove as the best series ever.

It's next on my list for sure, I just jumped into the current season because my wife started watching it and I was pulled into it in the first episode.

I've heard many people say Season 1 of TD is the best series they've ever watched

I was pretty shocked about Prior killing Hank. Not shocked about the cover up, but it's going to end poorly for everyone, imo. Was wondering if Rose was a figment of Navaro's imagination, but apparently not if she's sending Prior to her to hide the bodies.

Wish they'd focus more on Tsalal stuff. I guess they're trying, but it's just like.. ope we went to a cave and its buries.. herp derp.

How the **** did Navaro get back so quick to be in security detail in a mob?

It's getting shit on pretty hard online as the worst season and I'm not going to disagree. With one ep left, it seems like it's going to end up as an environmental factor, possibly the microbe that the teacher talked about to Danvers, from the mine that poisoned the crew and the town's babies, with the mine covering up Annie's death with the help of Hank and Ted. Womp womp.

On one hand, this season could have benefitted from being 8 episodes, but on the other they wasted a lot of time going over the same old stuff.

Episode 5 made major strides towards the eventual explanation of the events, but there's still a lot of ground to cover in the final episode. I have the feeling we're going to walk away from this season with a lot of questions unanswered.
