How can an entire department be eliminated via executive order? Arn't those departments created by acts of congress. Doesn't it take an act of congress to eliminate them?

That is true. That would be within his purview. The EO to disband is not and flies in the face of our laws, policies, and constitution. A fact that should concern people. But it appears that it doesn't for a certain segment of american trash.

Same. I do it just so my kids can see what the unsubsidized loan rates are. Then I put it into a calculator to show how much debt they'd accumulate if they choose to stay in the modest apartment dad will pay for vs. the bougie one they'd need to take the loan out to cover. That don't have much sense sometimes but I'll give them credit - they've yet to need a loan.

Yes. There's a bill in congress to eliminate it. That's the only way. HOPE it happens. There's no reason D.C. should be involved in local education in North Dakota, for example.
