It's been around since 2022. It has peaked and ebbed a few times. Rebuilding egg laying flocks can be successful, only to be culled by the next wave of the flu. Eggs have gone up and down. Commercially it affects us more. At home I don't consider the cost, I just buy them.
Make up your mind. You are feeling the effects of inflation, or you aren't? It's seasonal demand, or Biden's incompetence?
As I said 2 cartons of eggs / 18 in each carton = 3 dozen eggs / $10.99 for both cartons.
About 30 cents an egg, Not bad really,

Gas $2.59, butter was $3.99 a pound and eggs are $2.99 a dozen here. Groceries price levels seem to be very regionally dependent.

36 eggs for $10.99 is pretty good these days. I usually buy the primo "pasture raised" eggs that are around $7.99/dozen and I've seen those as high as $13, depending on the store. The cheapest eggs I've seen lately were around $3 for a dozen.
Hell, butter is so inexpensive in Iowa that we make entire cows and Sam Cassell’s (with a pony tail) out of it.

Iowa has had almost two years straight of “avian flu” outbreaks that result in the elimination of millions of birds resulting in shortages of eggs and chickens..these shortages are the main reason eggs prices are skyrocketing the past 2 years…and the avian flu problem doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.

There's your problem, shopping at Winn Dixie. They have an extremely odd business model...charge ultra-premium prices, provide budget level service, while marketing your store to clientele who don't want to get dressed up enough to go to Wal-Mart. I have no idea how they're still in business.

In some markets they come close to what you’re describing but the WD in question is less than a mile from their current SE Grocers headquarters here in Jacksonville, and it tends to have lots of unannounced spot checks from the bigwigs. It was also the closest grocery store to where I’d been running errands so I scooted in.
