The man is pure slime:

President Trump lashed out anew Monday at the news media, calling it “the true Enemy of the People,” and he again blamed what he called “fraudulent” reporting for anger that has led to a spate of recent violence in the country.

The president’s latest invective on Twitter comes as he faces calls to tone down his public statements amid criticism that his attacks on political rivals and the media bear some culpability for the current climate.

“There is great anger in our Country caused in part by inaccurate, and even fraudulent, reporting of the news,” Trump wrote. “The Fake News Media, the true Enemy of the People, must stop the open & obvious hostility & report the news accurately & fairly. That will do much to put out the flame ... of Anger and Outrage and we will then be able to bring all sides together in Peace and Harmony. Fake News Must End!”

Despite his calls for unity, Trump has continue to target his adversaries on Twitter and in public comments after a series of pipe bombs were sent to prominent Democrats and a gunman massacred Jewish worshipers Saturday at a Pittsburgh synagogue.

Trump’s Monday morning tweets prompted some fresh rebukes, including from Sen. Chris Murphy

“This is, for all practical purposes, a call for more violence against the press,” Murphy wrote on Twitter. “My god....what is happening???”

Others criticizing the remarks included David Lapan, a retired Marine colonel who was press secretary at the Department of Homeland Security while it was led by John F. Kelly, now Trump’s chief of staff.

“Over 30+ years as a U.S. Marine, I defended our country against its true enemies,” Lapan wrote on Twitter. “In 20+ years as a USMC, Pentagon and DHS spokesman, I dealt w/ the news media nearly every day. I know quite a bit about the press and know this — they are NOT the enemy of the American people.”

In a separate tweet Sunday night, Trump said the media was “doing everything in their power to blame Republicans, Conservatives and me for the division and hatred that has been going on for so long in our Country.”

“Actually, it is their Fake & Dishonest reporting which is causing problems far greater than they understand!” Trump added.

During an appearance on CNN on Monday morning before Trump’s latest tweets, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway downplayed Trump’s continued targeting of rivals.

“The president is trying to heal the country,” she said.

I have a feeling trump has some bad news coming on the horizon regarding himself. Needs to crank up the deflector shields. Must maintain chaos and anger amongst trumpers.

45% of the public think the news media displays a "great deal of bias." In 1989 only 25% thought the media was significantly biased. https://news.gallup.com/poll/225755/americans-news-bias-name-neutral-source.aspx [poll conducted Aug. 4-Oct. 2, 2017]

This is what he has been trying to do the entire time, create a false sense of reality, which was easy to do and why he ran on the Republican ticket. Now he can say whatever he wants and even when it is recorded he says that it was Fake News.

Trump read some scripted comment recently that sounded slightly presidential.

When not reading prepared comments, he compliments a congressman for body-slamming a reporter, and then doubles down on calling the press the enemy of the people.

I suggest this new strategy to the press:

Any time Trump says anything that sounds remotely reasonable, wait 72 hours to report on it. And only report on it if he hasn't contradicted or walked back what he said.

I mean why give the guy credit for something that history has proven will almost certainly be contradicted in short order?

Look at the breakdown by political persuasion.

The ones who are easily manipulated are the ones more likely to believe this false narrative. It's a narrative driven by the propaganda machine of the GOP.

Were the people polled given MMPI tests?

I think a lot of those numbers reflect how tribual things have become. With the information silos people live in now anything that challenges their beliefs will be refuted by an alternative media source left or right.

Good to see comments like this.

Deserves repeating.

the dems have had the media on their side throughout the Russia hoax and the kav deal. now the dems and the media are going after trump with fake bombs and an anti semite who hates jews and shoots up people and a caravan. none of this has anything to do with trump. it is manufactured. yep, they are going after a sitting prez. the dems and the media are out to get the person whom the people did choose. that is the definition of the enemy of the people.

So you liberals don’t think the media has any responsibility in this?

He isn't 100% wrong in an era where news outlets blend in so many spin selling techniques into their deliver of said news but someone really needs to come out and ask him what/who the other "part" of "in part by..." is.

Not sure how he gets away from that question without putting some blame on himself and both parties in our two party system.

He's never to blame for anything. Even his wives forced him to cheat. And those Casinos went belly up because of the recession or indian Casinos

I'm not normally like this, but for the future sake of our country, I hope and pray to Almighty God more and more people like you die in single-car accidents.

What? You pray for death to anyone who supports and believes in our President? I get not liking the POTUS and Republicans, but praying for someone to die? What’s wrong with you?

Pretty pathetic. Maybe he's young and will grow up someday.

Your opinion on the topic is worth even less.

Generally, religious views are controlled for in any analyses to parse out specifically 'political views.'

Actually it's not that difficult to identify pseudoscience.

What a total piece of shit.

He’s going to get someone killed. Again.

Maybe conservatives are more religous and thus are more faith based in their thinking. I think studies like this are worth very little.

The conservative and religion thing is long gone now that they have shown their true colors supporting trump. Faith and family ? I don’t think so.
