I do. This is the definition of seditious conspiracy. I think this is a serious charge. I will let others determine if they think this is basically just rioting or something more serious.
Under
18 U.S.C. § 2384, “seditious conspiracy” occurs when two or more persons:
conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof.
Matthew Rupert was sentenced to 9 years in prison, Brendan Wolfe was sentenced to 41 months not quite 4 years. A lot of people were in the 2-3 year range.
In any case I think it is silly logic to say welp this criminal event happened and I don't think enough people were charged so we shouldn't charge people in another event. A lot of what gets charged is determined by what case the state can make. These cases are easy to make as evidenced by the high plea/conviction rate. A lot of the more heinous acts in the Minneapolis riots were not as well documented.
