I didn't mean to play the coulda shoulda woulda game. I'm just saying that at the time of the play I didn't realize that it would have such a big affect on the outcome. You're right. Our WRs outmatched them and we decided to ignore that advantage.Certainly a big moment...but I just can't woulda coulda shoulda this game right now.
Still utterly baffled at the overall play calling of the second half. "Coaching scared" is all that comes to mind. Hell, the most creative play calling of the game was once CJ got hurt...then crawled right back into a shell.
The only way Iowa moved the ball well today was when they attacked with the passing game. And they abandoned it after the 3rd TD drive.
Disagree. The guy hooked himself by turning his body while he was being driven out of the hole. If that was holding, then there should have been 10-12 other holding calls today. It was a huge momentum shift. it was a clear hold though. He hooked the guy with his arm.
Iowa lost by 2 pts in a game where 1000 bad plays, mistakes, and mental breakdowns could have changed the outcome of the game. Kittles hold was like #34.
He wasn't pulling him though. He was still driving him. It was an excellent block.perhaps but they are going to call a hold every team when I guy has has him arm around someone pulling him away from the ball carrier.
At least on TV, it looked to me like a good block and a ticky-tack call. Not a great view on TV, though. He wasn't pulling him though. He was still driving him. It was an excellent block.
It was a huge momentum shift. it was a clear hold though. He hooked the guy with his arm.
I do think it was borderline whether he was actually holding him but I'm sure if it happened the other way our fans would be saying it was a definite hold.yea he tackled him
Then call it on NDSU too.....makes a difference. It was a huge momentum shift. it was a clear hold though. He hooked the guy with his arm.
Then call it on NDSU too.....makes a difference.
Correct. Like the blatant hold by the NDSU OT in space that gave them time to complete a 1st down pass. Hard to understand how that was missed. Couldn't have been more obvious. Then call it on NDSU too.....makes a difference.
That seems contradictory then.......doesn't it.NDSU beat us fair and square. Having said that, an OL tackled Jewell on the QB draw on their last drive.
Ya it was a terrible call. NDSU got away with holding the whole damn game and we get called for that? I thought the officials were just 1 or 2 levels below Ferentz on the terrible job scale.Disagree. The guy hooked himself by turning his body while he was being driven out of the hole. If that was holding, then there should have been 10-12 other holding calls today.
I think that was Jaleel Johnson that was held out in the open in the backfield, not called, and they completed a 3rd and 13 pass for a 1st down. Don't recall if they scored or not afterward, doesn't matter, they missed a blatant hold, and several other things. Kittle's "hold" was on a guy who had already run himself out of the play to the inside. Had nothing to do with the end result of the play. Stupid call.Correct. Like the blatant hold by the NDSU OT in space that gave them time to complete a 1st down pass. Hard to understand how that was missed. Couldn't have been more obvious.
yea he tackled him
This x1000. 2 holding calls pretty much defined/decided the game.It was a big call and I can see how they would or would not call it. It probably cost Iowa going up 21-7 early and who knows what happens after that?!
My PROBLEM with them calling it is that they call that hold but throw no flag when Jaleel gets his jersey torn off in the 2nd Q.
If he gets his arm under or on the shoulder of his pads, it's a no-call. But he got the arm on top of the shoulder pads and so the ref assumed he was holding............stupid.This x1000. 2 holding calls pretty much defined/decided the game.
Kittleson block was no hold. Hands inside his frame.
