What are some shows that you started watching well after they first aired? I'm talking years after the series premiere. The last 2 months or so the wife no pics and I have been watching a ton of Portlandia. Somehow I had never even heard of it up until a couple months ago. I'm a huge fan of sketch comedy, so I was kinda caught off guard by how ****ing funny it was and how many actors were in it that I was familiar with. I can't get enough of it now.

Another one would be It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I had heard about it, but never watched it until the covid shutdown. Got all caught up during that, and now it's one of my favorite shows. Parks and Rec also fits the bill. I didn't start watching that until just a few years ago.

I have wanted to get into The Wire. May have to do that one of these days now that college football is winding down.
I haven't seen it either. While I have seen Sopranos many times, was always interested in The Wire. Deadwood sucks, made it a few episodes, but it's brutal.

I have this issue with a good chunk of shows that people claim are great. It's partially why I'm hesitant to start watching a show when it's a big hit. Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead are two shows that I started watching, and just couldn't make it. And I know I'm in the minority with that opinion.

Portlandia songs are often stuck in my head.

The songs are freaking great. Everything is great about that show.

The shows that are best for this are the ones that maintain a continuous storyline throughout the show as binging them is a much better experience.
The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and Game of Thrones are a handful of ones that we started watching well after they came out. The Sopranos was the only one that we didn't get caught up before the show finished. We started watching IASIP around season 3 and stopped after it moved off of FX.

Other ones that I don't think have been mentioned to go back and watch if you haven't already
Comedies: Arrested Development, Fleabag, Veep
Dramas: The Americans, Better Call Saul

I won't even start them. Just not a fan of the genre.

The big three from HBO (The Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood).

I haven't watched any of those but would like to. If I ever had the time to binge like that. I think of all of the great shows I should watch and then it becomes overwhelming and I just turn on YouTube. ADHD hates focusing for too long.

I started Breaking Bad really late but enjoyed it (the 1st season was slow AF).

I stopped watching Game of Thrones after I made it through season 2. I had multiple people tell me I didn't give it enough of a try, and that I'd like it if I kept going. I couldn't help but laugh.

I forgot about Modern Family. That's one I should have added too. So damn funny
First 4 or 5 seasons are right up there with the first few seasons of the Office. Other shows coming to mind I started late with in this thread are TWD and Curb.

Honestly, I would say if you weren't all in after season 3, episode 4, then you never would have liked it. And now his watch is ended (s3:e4) was incredible and you really see the dragons do their thing for the first time.*

*Edited to not there is prime dialogue between Varys and Tyrion.

Probably be easier for me to list shows that I watch live. Heck, I'm watching Friday Night Lights which ran from '07-'11 and after that will be Mad Men (to give you any indication).

It just wasn't my cup of tea. I was catching up on it in the weeks leading up to March Madness some years back. Once the tourney started, clearly that was my priority. Once it got over, I considered going back, but always found something else I'd prefer to watch, even reruns of shows I've seen dozens of times. That's when I knew I just wasn't interested in it.

Yeah, we're the same same, now that you mention it. We also were late to the game with Mad Men.

Downton Abbey and Poldark, fictional stories set in historical periods. The former a very “chick” show and the latter somewhat of a chick show. Binged both on Amazon Prime. The Brits really do have a talent for turning uninteresting topics into interesting stories.

Always Sunny is the greatest sitcom to watch on an airplane ever.

I obviously don't watch much traditional TV any more (haven't for decades now), but...

Archer
Simpsons
Family Guy
