First I am calling for smarter regulation, not no regulation - the market does need governance.
Second, I would love to see more about the homes you say are available. Are they in places where people can find work? Are they habitable? Are they safe? Not to mention there are far more people that are not homeless, but who can barely afford rent in the cities they were born and raised in. I’m actually curious and not trying to take a shot, that is a shocking stat to me.
Finally, I am not for the billionaire class. They need to do much much more for society that gave them so much (personally I think a much higher inheritance tax would do the trick). But things like that CAN that coexist with smarter regulation.
The image of the Democratic Party is trash, in large part because government does not tend to solve real problems people have. I spend a very significant amount of my time volunteering at community based non profits in Chicago. We have real generational / systemic issues that have never been solved despite countless billions that have been poured towards those problems. But instead of fixing those issues people just want to go after the uber wealthy. Why not both?
Murder the billionaires, murder the systemically and generationally poor...boom, problem solved. Let the era of the middles start!
Can we still say whatever we want here or has this place become "strict" over the last few years?

The point that you seem to be missing is that the Republican Party controls the White House and Congress. So, I believe the point of this post is to ask…how can the Democrat party overtake them?

Can someone please provide a link to the evidence that this is just some billionaire way of co-opting the Democratic Party? I’m currently reading Klein’s seminal book on the topic and he is a pretty classic liberal. I’m only a bit of the way into the book but it is littered with liberal viewpoints so far. Which is not surprising considering Ezra Klein is a liberal NYT opinion writer.
From what I’ve seen so far I don’t see this as some billionaire manifesto. So would like to know why you and others are branding it as such.
Because they haven’t read it and are just spouting talking points that have made the rounds since the books release. I’ve also noticed that Dems don’t think it is progressive enough of an action with what the progressive wing wants from government.
The progressive wing wants MORE government with all of its inefficiencies compared to what Ezra is pushing in his book.

Looks like some other people see this the same way as me. It appears Koch and other wealthy people are behind this Abundance movement thing too. Kill it with fire.

Thanks for sharing the link. Much appreciated. I’m going to wait until I finish Klein’s book before weighing in on all the pro and cons of his thesis, but partway into it his book is pretty far removed from the Koch viewpoints.
Once I’m finished I will report back on where I see the intersection with billionaire interests and where it is (possibly) progressive fear mongering,
You can literally attach any name to any theory or program then say something along the lines you guys are saying. Another point Moral pointed out is that it is basically the same system we have which is 100% wrong. The book is pointing out all the inefficiencies with our current system and how it works on the left. It is bringing up ideas on how to make Government work better for us.
If it has a good premise with a push to make government better for all of us to enrich the citizenry, then why just push it aside without even reading up on it?
