Probably...so there are Nazis here in HROT and they are the mods.

First I am calling for smarter regulation, not no regulation - the market does need governance.I think housing is a terrible excuse. The market is supposed to be this all knowing, all powerful deity that allocates resources properly. It doesn't. When the profit motive is behind everything we do, the needs of the masses are ignored to satisfy the ghoulish dragons at the top, hoarding their wealth.
As of a few years ago, there were 28 vacant homes for each homeless person in this country. It's not a problem of inventory.
We're on the back end of abundance right now IMO, we can't keep raping our planet for finite resources to create shit that we don't need. I saw a product today on one of the morning shows that is a mask that you put on to massage your face after you get a headache from too much screen time. Like WTF is this shit?? INNOVATION!
First I am calling for smarter regulation, not no regulation - the market does need governance.
Second, I would love to see more about the homes you say are available. Are they in places where people can find work? Are they habitable? Are they safe? Not to mention there are far more people that are not homeless, but who can barely afford rent in the cities they were born and raised in. I’m actually curious and not trying to take a shot, that is a shocking stat to me.
Finally, I am not for the billionaire class. They need to do much much more for society that gave them so much (personally I think a much higher inheritance tax would do the trick). But things like that CAN that coexist with smarter regulation.
The image of the Democratic Party is trash, in large part because government does not tend to solve real problems people have. I spend a very significant amount of my time volunteering at community based non profits in Chicago. We have real generational / systemic issues that have never been solved despite countless billions that have been poured towards those problems. But instead of fixing those issues people just want to go after the uber wealthy. Why not both?

Welcum back!!The path to winning for democrats, 2 strategies; 1. Let MAGA self destruct itself, do not stand in their way, let them cut their own throat (it will happen, it always happens to those who believe they are in a mandate position) 2. Stop pandering to people who make up less than 1% of the population and focus on those who make up 99% of the population.
Focusing publicly on stupid shit, ignoring real pressing issues, pandering to lunatic ideas, and pretending the leader of the free world and your parties president wasn't losing his mental capacities when it was obvious to the public was a losing strategy.
Also...hello freak bitches, it has been a minute.
It’s a free for all with timeouts here and there. A bastion of free speech on the internetMurder the billionaires, murder the systemically and generationally poor...boom, problem solved. Let the era of the middles start!
Can we still say whatever we want here or has this place become "strict" over the last few years?
I wish I had the time to give you the response that you deserve but here's where I got those details:First I am calling for smarter regulation, not no regulation - the market does need governance.

As far as I can tell there are very few rules around here. Seems like just about anything goes.Murder the billionaires, murder the systemically and generationally poor...boom, problem solved. Let the era of the middles start!

The point that you seem to be missing is that the Republican Party controls the White House and Congress. So, I believe the point of this post is to ask…how can the Democrat party overtake them? The other side of this conversation is that the premise is misplaced. Why always the Democratic Party in need of a makeover? Why never the party that currently resembles a heaping pile of MAGAt-infested elephant shit? Why never them?
After all, Team Trump only benefits a fraction of the population. Not only that, but they seem hellbent on anal raping the rest of the American population with an elongated cucumber. And still the majority of these idiots will gleefully bend over, grab their ankles, and squeal to high heaven just so they can lament about a handful of transgender women ****ing up women’s sports. It’s colossally stupid, and yet that is the path millions of imbeciles have chosen—to take Trump and Elon’s fascist-filled dildo straight up their mud whistles.
In short, I am done musing about what Democrats need to change. It’s time for the American people to start figuring out what they need to change. Don’t tell me it’s the Democratic Party that needs a serious makeover when you have Team Trump turning the executive branch into a trashy reality TV show morphed into a white trash soap opera. It’s like inspecting two flawed faces—one with a couple giant zits on the chin and the other something akin to the travesty once on @joelbc1’s face—and then concluding it’s the chin that needs makeup.
Folks, the pimpled chin is not the problem right now.
Holy shit…I’m guessing the Kodak Company had a similar stance. The other side of this conversation is that the premise is misplaced. Why always the Democratic Party in need of a makeover? Why never the party that currently resembles a heaping pile of MAGAt-infested elephant shit? Why never them?

Can someone please provide a link to the evidence that this is just some billionaire way of co-opting the Democratic Party? I’m currently reading Klein’s seminal book on the topic and he is a pretty classic liberal. I’m only a bit of the way into the book but it is littered with liberal viewpoints so far. Which is not surprising considering Ezra Klein is a liberal NYT opinion writer.
Some interesting quotes. It will be interesting to see if the DNC takes the hint or tries to force feed this billionaire backed "abundance party" crap down people's throats.
Because they haven’t read it and are just spouting talking points that have made the rounds since the books release. I’ve also noticed that Dems don’t think it is progressive enough of an action with what the progressive wing wants from government. Can someone please provide a link to the evidence that this is just some billionaire way of co-opting the Democratic Party? From what I’ve seen so far I don’t see this as some billionaire manifesto. So would like to know why you and others are branding it as such.

Looks like some other people see this the same way as me. It appears Koch and other wealthy people are behind this Abundance movement thing too. Kill it with fire.

Thanks for sharing the link. Much appreciated. I’m going to wait until I finish Klein’s book before weighing in on all the pro and cons of his thesis, but partway into it his book is pretty far removed from the Koch viewpoints.Moral posted this article earlier in this thread. It lays out some of the ties the abundance movement has to big tech/crypto/right wing billionaires
You can literally attach any name to any theory or program then say something along the lines you guys are saying. Another point Moral pointed out is that it is basically the same system we have which is 100% wrong. The book is pointing out all the inefficiencies with our current system and how it works on the left. It is bringing up ideas on how to make Government work better for us.Moral posted this article earlier in this thread.
