Do any of you have an issue with what the Post Office has become. At one time it seemed to be the only well run department in the Federal Government but in my experience, it has gone to pot.

I'm required to us them on occasion for clients and customer's who need written documents but now mail takes forever to arrive and they seem to lose all kinds of mail. I received a tax form from my accountant in Iowa to Missouri, 2 months after he mailed it, unbelievable.

Trump placed a lackey in charge.

Personally I think the PO is pretty great. But it's still run by humans that aren't always great.

Plenty of examples of failure by the PO, but compared to the success rate it's pretty small IMO.

But, losing something important or having it delayed for a long time is pretty frustrating.

I got an image from UPS Informed Delivery a week ago for a check I'd like and it hasn't arrived yet.

CSB.

I only wish the USPS would end flooding my mailbox with unwanted junk mail, but I get that, at this point, it's how they make most of their revenue. The internet says that 62% of all mail is junk mail. That's 62% that goes straight from the postal service into my mailbox, and then straight into the trash/recycling,

You want to help reduce pollution? How about addressing all the junk mail?

Edit: from the link:

"These fears seemed to be quickly realized by the USPS, coming to fruition in Mr. DeJoy’s immediate and sweeping changes to Post Office operations, including cuts to overtime, shortened Post Office hours and limiting delivery trips, all contributing to slowing down and delaying mail delivery. With 70% of Americansplanning to vote by mail this November, these changes caught the attention of lawmakers almost immediately. U.S. Reps. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.,) Gerald Connolly (D-Va.,) Stephen Lynch (D-Mass.,) and Brenda Lawrence (D-Mich.) wrote a letter to DeJoy with concerns that the changes he implemented would have “negative impacts on service standards and cause significant delays in mail delivery.” They then went on to say, “while we share the goal of ensuring the Postal Service’s solvency, the rhetoric used in the document compares the Postal Service to a private company concerned only with the bottom line.”

I have a couple USPS friends, and they say the Amazon really screwed things up with them.
They have to wait until the Amazon gets to them before starting their routes and most times Amazon is late.

If DeJoy is so terrible then why doesn’t the Board of Governors replace him?

Retail companies prefer using mail for advertising 6 to 1 over radio/tv or even online advertising.

BTW if you really want to reduce pollution then demand that stores stop using plastic bags and start using paper sacks.

Is it just because of cost? I know it can be pretty targeted based on demographics, but it seems like a huge waste of money. Or maybe I'm the outlier in my market? I only look at junk mail to determine if it's trash or recycling - I'm not opening the Val-Pak or saving the pizza coupons, and I'm certainly not ordering any new windows or getting a new credit card.

Had a ton of clients this last tax season with missing documents.

Many were retired clients missing their social security statement.

Also both Iowa and the IRS failed to get estimates that we know were mailed out.

We had a big blizzard here in January and we are pretty sure a bunch of mail got messed up from it.

It's hit or miss. Some branches are great and others horrible. LIke most places, it depends on the people working there.

I've never had a tax document go missing and we experienced the same blizzards.

Anyone still sending checks, cash or gift cards via USPS is just asking to be ripped off. Its half public service organization, half organized theft ring.

I have zero problems with the Postal Service, it is the only government entity that you only pay for when you use it. I have regular 6 day service and occasionally get packages on Sunday. Doing a quick online search I found the USPS was the cheapest postal service in the world when compared to what other countries charge.

When I have to ship packages I always use the USPS as they are the cheapest and normally the quickest of all the shipping companies.

Still waiting on the invite to my brother’s wedding. The wedding was 2 years ago, we’re not estranged, and yes I was the best man.

But Republicans outnumber democrats 4-3, with 2 vacancies.
One of the Republicans is DeJoy and there are also two Independents, one of whom was appointed by Biden. Does DeJoy get a vote in whether or not they boot him?

Tell me about it. I can't believe the number of outfits that send me stuff letting me know my factory warranty is expired on my 1993 Suburban and wanting to sell me a new plan.

I don't care to look it up, but isn't the USPS still losing money? That shortage has to be made up somewhere.

My only "complaint" would be that I think they should reduce the frequency that they deliver standard mail.... If this would cut costs.

They have to keep up with delivering packages asap, but I really don't need "paper mail" everyday. Do that sh*t Tues, Thurs, and Saturday or something..... If it can cut your costs

LOL. The union wouldn't allow that; it would cut carrier hours.

I wish the PS would still support stamp collectors, though I'm sure it isn't cost efficient at all. I collected from the time I was 7, and every new stamp release I'd get a first day cover, a plate block of four and one unused stamp. I had to stop doing it towards the end of my working career due to time constraints, family, etc.

Once I retired, I went online to see how much I had missed and if I could get it caught up, and there's really nothing out there about it. Makes me sad.

About 12 or so years ago the Postmaster General announced a plan to cut deliveries back to 5 days a week. He was cordially invited to pack his shit and go home.

Personally I’d be fine with M/W/F delivery. Nothing I receive through regular mail is so urgent that I can’t wait a couple days to get it.

Louis DeJoy installed by Trump as Post Master General to sabotage and destroy it.

A lackey who wants to privatize the Post Office. He actually destroyed lots of quick sorting machines.

He was installed to slow down mail for mail in ballots. For the life of me I don't get why the **** is still in his position.

Like other departments of the government, when properly funded it's runs very well. Also like other government agencies, when we decided it needed to run like a business, it started to take a dump

I really do not think we can know if federal government departments are well run or not. There’s nothing to compare most of them to. They are enormous with enormous demands.

Always room for improvement but sad that we default to “they’re terrible”. I suspect they are not.

No idea. I don’t think Biden has tried to boot him.
