Mail carrier jobs are one of the middle class jobs Republicans have successfully broken down over the years. They used to have a great retirement and pension, thus making it a career for a hard working person and kept many good people. Republicans have broken down the benefits and nearly ruined the job for young workers wanting to make a career of it.

I recently mailed something overnight from USPS. $45 and 3days later, I finally got it. Definitely a learning lesson, will be using FedEx next time I need something overnighted.

Anecdotally, North Liberty delivery service is okay and much better than it was. They are not without their problems but the influx of UPS and Prime deliveries has put a burden on them. The most recent problem they had is their drop box at the post office got robbed. They found the missing mail in a ditch in Coralville, which included a couple of bills we had dropped. They never found out who robbed the drop box, but did find out the there were no birthday/anniversary/graduation cards in the pile.

No. The Board of Governors appoint the Post Master General. Trump told his tame appointees to the B of G to appoint DeJoy. He owns enough of them to accomplish that.

I only wish the USPS would end flooding my mailbox with unwanted junk mail, but I get that, at this point, it's how they make most of their revenue. The internet says that 62% of all mail is junk mail. That's 62% that goes straight from the postal service into my mailbox, and then straight into the trash/recycling,

You want to help reduce pollution? How about addressing all the junk mail?

They need to keep raising the rates on junk mail until they start to reduce the amount by 10% purchases. Then hold there for a while and start increasing it again. You know kinda like Comcast.

Do any of you have an issue with what the Post Office has become. At one time it seemed to be the only well run department in the Federal Government but in my experience, it has gone to pot.

Like other departments of the government, when properly funded it's runs very well. Also like other government agencies, when we decided it needed to run like a business, it started to take a dump

Lou DeJoy has saddled them w/ another 20+ yr fleet of inefficient, fossil-fuel powered vehicles.

Meanwhile, Amazon was switching to all-electrics, because they're far more efficient and lower maintenance for all the short-haul deliveries.

Louis knew exactly what he was doing - crushing the long-term viability and efficiency of USPS. Because his buddies want to "privatize" it, so you can spend 2x-3x for mail service once a week.
