Ughhhh….. when does Iowa spring ball start?

Iowa's Coaches Clinic is Friday and Saturday, March 22 & 23. Practice on Saturday starts at 10:45 in the Indoor Practice Facility for those attending the clinic.

All the beat writers and podcasts have gone silent on football and are only talking basketball (and wrestling and baseball). Women’s basketball I can understand, but no one wants to listen to an hour long Hawkeye podcast that doesn’t even have a football segment.

That was my initial take as well. Then I thought...who would you move ahead of them?

Not USC until they prove they can play defense.
Not Iowa until they prove they can play offense.
Not Washington, they lost a ton of players and their coaching staff.

One thing that jumped out at me was the lack of a "rebound" for Wisconsin. Looks like they've dropped in the annual pecking order.

Take it easy, buddy. Lol My God. Just wanted to know when spring ball started. That doesn’t require a lecture. If it makes you feel better, I am not hoping my next birthday comes real quickly.

That really is amazing to be up there in the top third with those programs considering the trash offense of the past three years.

I just thought the odds should be closer to what they have for USC for those two teams.

For what it is worth we play only OSU above us and 8 teams below us.

Iowa has basically the entire defense back and Kicker , Offense OL is all back + Proctor , TEs are back, RBs are back , If Iowa gets just average WR and QB play that +3500 is not a bad value bet , $ 300 bucks to win 10K with a very very soft schedule compared to the rest of the " contenders" . Only game that looks very dubious is at OSU .

You kind of glazed over the "offensive line is all back part". Proctor is a great addition, but he can't fix the other 4 guys.

In a recent vid they showed a dude making a one handed catch! I don't recall who it was though. They have been posting strength and conditioning vids and they must be able to do some reps without coaches with regard to throwing and running routes. It showed Cade throwing also.

What is staggering to me is the lack of development on our OL. It has always been something that has been a big thing about going to Iowa. The development was always considered to be the selling point. Last season we had at four multi year starters with a ton of game experience and that wasn’t good enough to get us out of the cellar of offensive stats.

I know right? It feels like we were spoiled by the impact of Reese and Doyle. Before the dark times....

Linderbaum was great and left early and then Kirk handpicked the new center (Jones) from the defense. Center seems to be his baby.

I agree. I think he thought he was onto something after Linderbaum thrived and thought he could duplicate that moving another defensive player over. I don’t fault Jones for struggling his first year as that was a tall task, but his performance last year was not great either. The best thing that could happen with the addition of Proctor is for another OL to break into the lineup showing he has surpassed a starter.

Lauck or Dotzler at RT. Dunker at G. Richmon to the bench. Eisbury at C. Jones to the bench. Giddyup.

I have seen enough of Richman, also. Unfortunately, he has a golden ticket that KF loves, which is game experience. I am not crazy about Jones, either. I think it is crazy that we could have three Seniors that have started 3-4 years and would currently be considered long shots to get drafted. That is a very rare occurrence, especially for the Big Ten.

Something else crazy. Colby, Stephens, Jones and DeJong can compete for the last guard spot.

There will be several 3 Year starters going into next Year , Elsbury played well last Year plus Proctor coming in, If they cannot solidify the other 3 spots and there is not some serious improvement from the upperclassmen it is time for Barnett ( past time) to get taken to the train station.

I'd swap USC and Iowa odds.

USC plays LSU, Michigan, Penn State and Notre Dame.

They also play @ UCLA and @ Washington, teams that know one another all too well.

SC is going to have a very challenging year.
