The new wrestling facility wasn't a hint. There goes the new arena prospects. Long shot before, but that pretty much puts it to bed.

It’s been quite a while since I went to BB game during the middle of winter so I’m curious, how much tailgating takes place in sub zero weather?Eventually there will be no surface lots left for tailgating....

Ahhhhhhh. Makes WAY more sense.Football tailgating
Am I the only one that is shocked that a parking ramp costs 96 million. Didn't they build Carver for 20 million? Perhaps I'm just getting old.
Well there will be about 2500 at the top watching the final minute and then running to their cars. Even more posts to complain about Hawkeye fans leaving early.Obviously this garage has direct ties to Carver but it's also correlated to the ever-expanding hospital complex. A new Inpatient Tower is going to be built north of Children's Hospital at the water tower site. And an Ambulatory Center was supposed to be built where the Fieldhouse is per the last published 10-year plan, don't know the status today.
This is good for parking volume but good luck getting out in under an hour if you're parked on the top floor and don't leave immediately from a packed Carver.
Yes. That's going to piss all of them off. Nothing beats a beautiful fall day with your camper inside a parking ramp celebrating Hawkeye football.Isn't that the lot that RV's are parked in overnight during FB weekends?
Onto a 2 lane street that is one way during game days traffic being directed by 2 cops at each entrance.Hopefully it has like six lanes for both entering and exiting traffic

I believe that the original plans for Carver had a capacity similar to the Fieldhouse the design included a concourse halfway up in the stands I don’t remember if it had any concession stands or restrooms but it was removed because fans wanted an arena with more seating.Redoing the roof could make the place look acceptable on the outside.... It's ugly with all the exposed metal supports.
The hole in the ground and walking down to the court is unique and pretty cool..... Just sucks not having some kind of concourse halfway up the stands.
Steel and concrete. Both are available here. I get your point, but domestic versions of both are verifiably better (yes, I'm in construction).Tariffs...
China is a massive source for raw materials!
Developers would need to consider how to yield revenue. If there isn’t a business market (I.e. Sunday-Thursday occupancy), to support enough revenue, then it’s a destination/special event market. To make revenue, they would need to yield rates and prices accordingly. Then everyone would be on here complaining how expensive it is.If they don’t build an entertainment district with bars, hotels and restaurants immediately adjacent then they are F’n stupid.
But I didn’t stay a custodian, like the Clone and Husker trolls. Big difference!C’mon, man. There are Cyclones and Huskers that troll this board. You’re making it easy for them.
But $96 million? It just seems so expensive...Don't y'all be asking too many questions about the money

Hmmm....4D chess conspiracy... maybe part of that $96M is actually going to be laundered and funneled into NIL?
Thank you for spelling ELLioTT Drive correctly.skywalk over Elliott Dr would have been nice
I'm not kidding - wouldn't rule it outHow bout a tunnel? Just sayin
The only time I've been to Carver was for a graduationCarver was crap when I was a student there over 20 years ago. This 96 mil should be put toward a new arena in a better location.
Rumor has it there will be heated bathrooms on each level, and a Starbucks and a Cinnabon on the main level.Still, $96M seems excessive.
I think they are going to use the same folks that designed and built the Children's Hospital. That was my first thought. Why is a bunch of concrete going to cost 100 million dollars? Thats insane.

A Starbucks and a Cinnabon on the main level would actually be smart if true.Rumor has it there will be heated bathrooms on each level, and a Starbucks and a Cinnabon on the main level.
With 15% of gross profit going straight to SWARM.A Starbucks and a Cinnabon on the main level would actually be smart if true.
The capacity really didn't change. Their ability to raise enough funds was the issue for the removal of the concourse. There was a strong 'anti naming' sentiment at the time but 'Carver' got slapped on it because he had to pony up more money and the concourse was lost.I believe that the original plans for Carver had a capacity similar to the Fieldhouse the design included a concourse halfway up in the stands I don’t remember if it had any concession stands or restrooms but it was removed because fans wanted an arena with more seating.
Nothing wrong with Carver, get your ass to the games !Carver was crap when I was a student there over 20 years ago. This 96 mil should be put toward a new arena in a better location.
Oh there is plenty wrong with Carver. Just not enough that should preclude people from attending events there..............biggest issue? The jackwagons who see people they haven't seen in awhile and they decide to have a 10 minute conversation 4 people wide in the main fan concourse walking area. Get your selfish self over by the doors between the concession stands, plenty of wide open space there where you won't be blocking traffic while you yuck it up...........and stay off my lawn.Nothing wrong with Carver, get your ass to the games !
The situation you describe isn't just Carver. I'm beginning to think it should be socially acceptable to simply run into said folks as you are making your way to where you're going. People's spacial awareness is gone anymore.Oh there is plenty wrong with Carver. Just not enough that should preclude people from attending events there..............biggest issue? Don't worry about your lawn, looked at it, pretty good, not as good as mine but good. The situation you describe isn't just Carver. And while I'm here, since when did it become OK to drive in the left effing lane of the interstate when you're going about 0.00001 mph faster than the car you're next to?!?! Remember when we drove in the right, passed quickly on the left, and then got back into the right? When did that change and why didn't anyone tell me?!?!
Your lawn? Don't get anywhere near mine!![]()
I will often just sit in my car until the person gets tired of waiting and drives on.Don't worry about your lawn, looked at it, pretty good, not as good as mine but good.
I had an Uncle....as long as I am doing the speed limit I can be in any lane....... never rode with him again.
People walking 3-4 wide....and then stopping....people walking against traffic
People waiting for the person to put their groceries in the car, back out, etc. so they can get that spot. Don't be that person, if I see you throwing your flashers on because you saw me unlock my car and I haven't even gotten to it yet...one of two thing are going to happen........I will be slooooooowwww as slow can be getting out or if I want to inconvenience less people I will back out towards you and wave the person coming from the other way into my spot so you don't get it. You are probably the person that is too important to take your grocery cart to the cart corral
Vent over.....what were we talking about?
