Ulis

I don't watch much NBA, but the spacing seems to be larger due to their Defensive rules, and Joe isn't going to blow by anybody, but there seems to be a lot less congestion in the lane, so his dribble drive game might just improve because of that.

Maybe I'm all wet because I don't watch much NBA, but that's my perception from what little I do.

Yep. and not just the defensive rules, but the analytics.. good shots are either at the rim, or 3 pointers, and the NBA has enough good, quick shooters that guys can't help on drives like they do in college. Imagine how many more clean catch-and-shoot looks at 3s JBO (or even CJF) would get if he were 6'7.... each NBA team has a couple of those.

Again, not projecting him to be a star, but can see him earning a paycheck, and nobody should begrudge him if he has the opportunity to do that next year.

How many did he make against PSU.. I haven’t looked it up but my guess is 2-3 ?
Not good enough.
Look I think he can play regularly in the NBA if he can be efficient and hit 5-7 per game. I think he can if he works at it, this plus better handles and stronger, so he can put it on the floor and finish. Joe is a great college player right now, but that’s still not a good NBA player... yet
Only 3 players in the NBA average more than 4 3 pt shots made per game, and only anotger 15 average over 3: https://www.espn.com/nba/stats/player/_/table/offensive/sort/avgThreePointFieldGoalsMade/dir/desc
And you think that Weezy needs to average 5 - 7 a game to make it?

Not sure anybody would begrudge him for his choice? I just think at least few folks think he would better served to stick around another year. just my take.

My point is (as I already said is overly optimistic), what does Joe W do better than other Players in the NBA . He shoots the 3 ball , that’s his ticket or G league or Europe. IMO he can play in the NBA if he becomes one of the best shooting it from deep. ala Kyle Korver.

I understand that people feel he would be better served to come back. I think he truly just wants to start his pro career...wherever that may be. Maybe he thinks that he is at the peak of what he can show? He is leading the country in 3 point and is now one of 5 finalist for the Jerry West Award. He is absolutly garnering some attention. I would LOVE to have Joe come back...but will support him in whatever decision he makes.

Kyle is a good comparison. Dude has been in the league 17 years. Kyle is an elite NBA 3 pt shooter. Can Joe do the same? Maybe. A team would need to take a chance.

I guess we'll have to see how Weezy ends up. In the meantime I think we can enjoy his time at Iowa.

Based on what? Not saying you are wrong ... just wondering if there are interviews, evidence, etc. that I haven't seen (other than putting his name in the draft last year).

I've always thought he compared well to Kevin Heurter. I believe KH went to the league after his soph year. He may have better handles that Joe, but I think their games are very similar. The main glaring weakness for Joe is Melo Trimble isn't his PG (not a dis to hawk players, Melo was great).

Based on Joe not going through the NBA process last year, he can do it this year and come back. I recall when he went through the process after his Fr year, on the 3rd attempt you cannot come back.

He should declare and go through the process and get his feedback.

I think Weezy is better than Huerter. JMHO.

It is amazing what some people think the standard should be for a player. The very best player for 3-point makes in a game this year is Kaiden Ride from the Citadel, with 4.19 per game. In the top 50 in the entire country, there are only 5 NCAA players from power conferences in 3-pointers per game. Does this mean the power conferences have no guys that can shoot? Contrary, the power conferences have more good athletes, and it's harder to players to consistently get a volume of shots to average 4 made 3-pointers per game.

If Wieskamp was able to average, AVERAGE, 5-7 3-pointers per game while shooting north of 40% on 3's, he would be a Top 5 pick at minimum. No one is able to do that. It's not easy to get that many open shots in a game against good athletes, and then to make them. Wieskamp had a 5-game stretch where he made 22-35 3-pointers. That is an unbelievable run. Unlikely to match that the rest of the year. Hopefully he and Bohannon both have another hot streak in them each, even if it's not as crazy good streak as he just had.

Joe w will not get drafted he’s not on any nba draft boards he will be back next season count on it
He is practicing his German, Spanish and French...he will have no use for English next season unless it is with a Midwest accent...yo7 cam make money and A living playing Euro ball...he ain’t NBA quality unless he can light it up like Korver...he is no Korver.

Weezy will also look better when he gets to the league.

As of now Huerter is a better playmaker but never say never. I hope Wieskamp will play a few years in the league, it's been since Marble where the Hawks have had a player getting consistent minutes for a couple seasons.

Not sure how much of Ulis we will see unless there is a blowout game. He was always under control when in the game and seemed capable of running the offense in limited action.

Regarding JW, how roster spots on an NBA team for a specialist shooter? 1 at best and not on every team. That really limits opportunities for JW because he doesn't have stellar handles and is going to struggle to guard bigger, quicker guys. I would say he and Uthoff are pretty close with Uthoff having a slight edge in athleticism and size and Uthoff hasn't gotten more than a few short-term contracts I believe.

He can definitely play in Europe but why rush that? Why skip your senior season and leave your fiance to play for the Warsaw Polish Sausages in the Euro League? That opportunity will be there after he graduates.

I know the same people dissing Weezy were saying the same thing about Huerter. Weezy has been getting feedback from the NBA and has upped his game accordingly. If he does go pro, we'll see if that pans out.
