McIntosh got a TD and wrapped up a leg lace for 3 straight turns to end it.

Am I correct, Adam Hall graduated in 2012? How is he wrestling in this event? Was he Doogie Howser?

Agree. Seems to defy the spirit if not the letter of the rules. Congrats, big man on campus. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go defeat some third graders in dodgeball.

I'm in! Where are these third graders, anyway?

Why do I ask where? Because I ain't being conned into playing dodge ball with San Souchi's little hellions on a bridge in Waterloo, that's why.

He has fared quite well in freestyle. He beat Mark Hall 14-5 at olympic trials while wrestling up from his ideal weight. Not surprising at all that he would take it to a college soph/Junior, regardless of how good Sorensen is

Sorensen gets the #1 seed and he and Kemerer are probably in the finals against each other if Hall doesn't show up. He even cut to 70 when he finished 4th at trials.Kinda lame if you ask me. Oh well, this shows Sorensen how far he has to go...at least against dudes who wrestle two weights up. Kind of wished Sorensen had tried the cut to 65.

Would have been nice to see Gilman and Clark...both with a good shot at the finals.

So how do they do this internationally? I mean other countries send 28 year olds to Cadets. Do we trust them to be honest that they are working towards a degree. I just thought the University was meant that it was "college" aged kids. Again this is silly and I see why they have been reluctant to have a Universities World Championship.

Apparently 80KG is not a world weight so no need for 2 out of three for the representative from the US.

University Nationals rules should be changed to allow only NCAA-eligible athletes. I have no solution for its international version, but I generally have no solution for any of the international corruption and rule-bending and general idiocy that seems to plague most sports on the international level.

The Zika match has gone viral.

Nice to see Paddock have success. Dude is a beast in the clinch. If he improves his leg defense and leg attacks he could surprise people. Glad he wrestled freestyle instead of Greco this weekend.

Not often you see someone that talented in both styles. 2015 University Nationals Greco Runner up and 2016 University Nationals Freestyle Runner up.

The bitch of it with Paddock is that he competed at 80kg (176lbs). Obviously, Meyer is better right now and Paddock is going to have a hard time getting down to 165 next year. Also, hoping the Bull has his shirt pulled this year at 165. Not sure where that leaves Paddock for his sophomore year. Maybe, the Hawks pull Marinelli's shirt next year and make that push for a title and then Burke's Junior year he starts at 174 with Young at 165 (Marinelli shirts). Good problems to have gents, lots of talent to try and fit into the lineup.

2016-2017
165 Marinelli
174 Meyer

Paddock backup 174, Young shirts.

2017-2018
165 Young
174 Paddock

Marinelli shirts

2018-2019
165 Marinelli
174 Young/Paddock

At least that is what I am envisioning in my head right now.

Maybe Meyer should
I haven't heard anyone else state the obvious, which is that Marsteller's entire 2015-16 problem was simply cutting too much weight. He seems to be back to form now. Mystery solved (if it was ever really a mystery), and good for him.

I thought his problem was that he didn't go to Penn State.

Though I'm sure the weight cutting was a huge and fairly obvious factor in his performance last season, I'm not sure we can just say "mystery solved." There's still the whole issue that lead to his suspension. And, though I do feel sheepish trying to take something away from his performance, his side of the bracket was "meh" to say the least.

Things do look to be improving for him, though. Gotta feel good for the kid.

Chance looked really good against IMar. If he somehow gets a whole match motor, he is going to be tough. Both those guys were fun to watch

Pretty sound to me. I don't think Young is going to get to 174 his redshirt year unless he gets a growth spurt.

I think he has always looked good, but has issues with his tank. The cut the last few years made it worse, but you could still tell he was struggling early today. I hope he gets it worked out he is immensely talented.

Man child Macintosh dominated Sammy in match 2 10-0 tech.

McIntosh is a beast. It just seems he was always in the shadows of Taylor, Ruth and other national champs at PSU. He was the #1 p4p out of HS, and I think made a sacrifice for the team early on, wrestling as an undersized 197#er. He beat a lot of top guys in his 4 years, including Snyder.

Will he be a legit threat at 86kg for SRs, joining the already packed field - Cox, Dake, Taylor, Ruth etc? He's got a wicked leg lace, and he's not likely to be out-muscled by any of those guys. Wonder how he'd fare against his old teammates Taylor and Ruth.

Cox is a tough dude to beat but I think Mac would have a good shot against the rest. Tough to beat a guy that has come down. Would have really been interested on how Mac would have done at 184.
