University Nationals

Great showing by the Hawks and potential future Hawkeyes this weekend!
Stand out performances by Kemerer, Warner, and Meyer. Paddock was also pretty impressive.
Any of you IA Wrestle boys see Marinelli roll with Paddock at all?
Looks like Paddock will have something to say about the whole true frosh in the lineup at 65....

I don't think Paddock ever sees 165 again.

Marinelli wasn't in the room when we stopped by. He (Alex) said he was headed to Iowa today on Twitter.

Probably see Marinelli go as a TF and RS the following year. Young will come in after RS year and take over 65 and Paddock will go 74. Marinelli will come back the following year and take 65 and Young/ Paddock will battle for 74.
Where does young Berge fit into this conversation?:D

For those of you weren't able to watch the University/Cadet matches, Paddock looked huge at 80kg (176 lbs). He looked pretty sucked up last year at 165, he's got a lot more muscle to him now. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that he had to cut a bit to make 176. He doesn't look much smaller than Sammy Brooks to me. A couple inches shorter maybe, but similar build. Sammy was obviously undersized at 86 kg( 189 1/4) and had a noticeable strength disadvantage against Morgan Mac. Very encouraging results with Sammy's showing where he avenged his dual meet loss to AA Pete Renda from NC St (3rd at NCAAs this year) in dominant fashion with a 14-4 tech fall victory.

The IAWrestle guys were in the room recently and described on their most recent podcast that Marinelli has been taking it to guys in the room, including Nick Dardanes. Sounds like Alex hasn't had any problems with anyone near his weight in the Iowa room, but I haven't heard if he's gone with Burke.

Whatever the case, it's all good news -- we have a beast in Alex, and Burke has really been coming on with his performance in Akron. Best wishes to each and every guy in the Iowa room -- may all of them thrive and reach their potential!

Is this inside info or Internet inspired dream?

Huh?
IA wrestle just said they didn't see Marinelli in the room, and that he was just heading to Iowa City today...

Siap but what was the reason for no Clark or Gilman? Thanks

Not sure on Gilman, but I was told he was supposed to go and he was a machine the day we saw him. We were in there roughly 10 days before the team left. I am assuming that he might have just been on the fence to begin with and the person I talked to thought he was going.

Clark was taking a break from competition. Clark wrapped up a camp with Sebolt Wrestling Academy within the last week or so it was not injury related.

We did not see him in the room, but we still asked around and it sounds like he has been holding his own on the days he is in there.

He's made several trips and worked out when he's been here. He's actually moving to IC this week. Today, apparently.

Thank you!

I watched the Bull against one of the 3 guys mentioned a few posts earlier. Alex dominated with approximately 10-12 take downs. He may have given up 1 TD but I don't remember. This was a few weeks ago.
Meyer looked great this weekend. He was relentless and aggressive with his leg attacks. Guys didn't get in on his legs as often because he was being so offensive. Brooks was a beast all tournament. MM was just to slick for him in the finals.

See what Ross says above. While they were in the room, they were told that Alex had been dominant. I never claimed that they watched Alex during their recent visit to the room. That said, Alex has been in the room from time to time in recent months, and dominating while there.
