Wow, have we ever listed 6 WRs?

I'm a bit surprised to see Sullivan at QB3, although Marco has some years in the system and as we know, this is early season fodder for us. Nestor starting at CB, yes!

Only so much room on the RB line, all will play, Moulton has really surged in winter drills/spring/conditioning.

all we need is an average offense.... ;)

Didn’t Harris and Lee start at the cornerback positions after CDJ went down last year? Doesn’t make sense to see them on the same side this year with Nestor on the other side with no experience and Hall as a back up. Interesting.

DL is stacked!
I guess I have a completely different view than that. Looking at the DL depth chart....outside of Craig and Black (and a little bit of Graves and Hurkett) there is a tremendous void of experience there. I'm hoping we see some significant blowouts in games 1 and 3 because we HAVE to get game reps for the backup DL going into conference play.

Corrected the typo.

Jaz not listed surprises me. I thought in some games he was Iowa's best back. Are there rumors he's transferring or was he just beat out?

Nestor must be looking really good to displace Lee as a starter.
I think Nestor brings more speed to the position than Lee does. We've seen games where the opposing teams pick on the slow CB from Iowa with great results.

Williams and Johnson were easily the top 2 RB's coming out of last year. Jaz lost a fair amount of weight over the off-season. I assumed that was on purpose in an effort to increase his speed and quickness. Maybe I'm wrong.

Nobody is "in" or "out" just yet, take this with a large grain of salt...we will play numerous RB's and Betts does go with hot hand...expect a big bounce back from Kaleb Johnson this year and LeShon will be LeShon...Moulton surged since the bowl game and only so many carries to go around, hence Washington, Jr. moving to WR.

I'm also surprised by no Jazz. I rather like his style. Hopefully that means the others are just that good.

Good observation, but here's another caveat. Iowa's defense played more snaps, I think, than any other defense in the country last season. When your D is on the field constantly, you defintely need lots of depth, especially in the DL. But what if Iowa has an offense this season? What if Iowa scores points and keeps its offense on the field by rolling up first down after first down? That would mean a lot less time for the defense to be on the field. That would mean players would be fresher and depth, while always important, would be less important.

So that's my plan for the DL in particular and the D in general: Keep the offense on the field so the defense will stay fresh. Look at what that D did last year, despite being on the field constantly. Imagine what they can do if they get a little rest.
