Updated thoughts after ND

You've just described a good 2G, not a good PG. Bohannon doesn't have great handles, nor is he a great passer. As mentioned earlier there are going to be games the outside shot isn't falling you want someone who can drive and get to the FT line. Plus, JB isn't quick enough to guard PG's. He would be much more effective at the 2G. He's the best they have but it's not good enough, imo, if they want to ever contend for the B1G title.
Solid analysis and follows along with my comments. Fran just has not been able to land an elite PG.

Jordan is a good enough passer. He's the best post feed passer Iowa has had in a while. He's a freshman who is learning the college game. I don't know that he will ever be a great PG, but, as you said, he's the best they have.

Defense on opposing PGs will be an issue for this team (as seen today). I hope they don't stop looking for quick, penetrating guards as you mentioned. My point is that there is a place for a different type of PG if there are other pieces.

Yes, generally that type of PG has another player in lineup who could take the guy off the dribble. For example, Valentine for MSU, or Jordan and Pippen for the Bulls. Actually MG or AC would be much better on this team. Yes, they couldn't take anyone off the dribble, but they were good passers, and played great D.

Even the Wis pg's you mentioned, could always drive to the hoop and pick up fouls when needed. THey couldn't do it all game but they were able to pick their spots and do it at key times in the game. They were also quicker than Bohannon, who's not at all quick and they always played excellent D.

If nothing else a change of pace PG is necessary for the team, even if Bohannon does work out at PG.
