With Rathbun now, we are loading up on middles and light weights but what about upper weights and heavy? Are they not as much a need right now? Talking 74 and up here, I know we have a stud at 160 w/ the Bull. Can someone way more knowledgable than me hook me up with an answer or maybe futuristic upper weight lineups?!

Well at 174 after Meyer we will have Brownlee, Young(I feel), and PaddockRSFR who will come up from 165 once Marinelli takes over 165
184 Wilcke will slide in after Brooks. Bowman is also there.
197- holloway will be the guy next year. I think next year we need to bring a solid recruit here for depth.
Hwt- Stoll is a FR and Bradley will be there also soon.

Nailed it! Team is setting up nicely for years to come. Great work TnT and morning*. Let's just go out and land Lee and Alex Thomsen and I'm a happy camper. Ok maybe Berge too if he's interested.

We have a ton of bodies at the weight(s) that everyone is hoping to land Lee. I wonder if the team knows something and has chosen to go to a different direction. Yeah, I know, not upper weight related.

I was thinking the same thing about Lee. Time will tell. Is there any interest in the kid from Oak Park? Maybe Papa bear will know. I believe the White kid. Name, not skin color.

We need depth, and no one is guaranteed a spot (or guaranteed to stay or be healthy or a number of other things for that matter). Come in and give it your best shot and see what happens. They'll make room for Lee if they want him bad enough.

Actually, right now, we don't...Who is backing up Gilman or Clark? Surprisingly, we don't have a ton of depth at 125 and 133...At least with Wagner and Rathbun, we will have backups for Clark and Gilman next season and two guys ready to go to replace them in 2018. It's a good problem to have and should only entice a guy like Lee to come in for the competition with our four guys who have already committed.

He will not be wrestling for the Hawks. Good chance he and Marinelli battle at the Ironman.

Rumors are that Spencer and his GF will be getting married at the Parkview next spring.
Hope Cael is invited!

Any ideas as to where he will be?
I don't think he would give out that information. There used to be lot of talk about him going to Ohio state or Illinois, but who knows. Any school would be lucky to get him. Will all find out soon enough. I personally will take Kemerer and Marinelli over White. Not saying anything bad about White, he is a great wrestler. I look forward to the White/ Marinelli match.

While there's always a need for studs at Iowa, there's not a huge need for White (and sounds like feeling may be mutual anyway). If you had to create a scenario in which it made sense, it would be Kemerer at 149, White at 157, and Marinelli at 165. That's AFTER Sorensen graduates in 2018, so either White or Kemerer would have to sit for a season. Okay--it's a scenario.

Higher priority is sorting out the question marks at 174, 184, and 197: no one knows how Burke, Young, Wilcke and Holloway are going to pan out--hopefully you have 3 NCAA champs there, but they're not ranked that way right now. Stating the obvious, that's why it would've been nice to have a top-5 guy like Hall or Valencia anchoring the upper lineup. Do we try to get Colbray? Do we try to get another mid-tier guy like Keegan Moore, Frankrone, Grello, or Gentile? Do we wait a year, see where the need is, and target that weight specifically?

And despite the influx of new talent at 125-141, I'd never say that getting Lee isn't a priority.

I also think Brady Berge will grow into a nice 174 pounder. He would a great addition!

Lee is a mystery too me. Most people say it's Iowa, PSU, or tOSU. I think it depends on a few things just like in the case of Suriano. Does he want to stay close to home and does he want to RS. PSU will be close to home and they will need him to start right away. If that's what he wants then PSU it is. If he doesn't care about being close to home and wants a RS year then Iowa it is. History has shown that when Cael goes all in for a kid he typically gets him. Last two years it looked like we went after Manville and Suriano hard and they both ended up at PSU. Will that happen will Lee? I hope not. I do love what the staff has done with Wagner, Rathbun, Renteria, and Mejia. All these kids said "growing up Iowa is where they wanted to be." I love that.

I must be confusing you with somebody else. I thought you were the guy that said we need champions and top 10 overall type guys, not mid to low AA type guys. Not saying that Mejia, Renteria et al aren't extremely good or that they won't be NCs, but Lee would be an upgrade. I doubt TNT are spending a ton of scholly money on those 5-6 guys to wrestle at 125-133 - those guys want to be here. I doubt they went and spent the budget so that we don't have the money for Lee.

Of course, I have no inside info.

Tarp said he'd NEVER say that getting lee isn't a priority. AKA he thinks getting a stud like lee is priority #1 in recruiting.

Yes. What Lax said.

I DO want Lee; he'd anchor that end of the lineup. He's the Ferrari.

Sorry Tarp. Misread your post. You ARE the same guy we all know and love.

The double negative from a writer like yourself threw me off.;)
