US Open Sr freestyle thread

Oh got, he entered for the practice. I didn't get the memo. Nor the one on Lugo, Keuter, nor Eierman. If he lost or got injured during the match, I understand. Just not how you draw the line in the US Open of where he might get injured. Caleb Smith is an AA and beat Matt Ramos in the past I think.
Caleb did not AA but he did beat McKee in the tourney 2 years ago and he beat 2 AA's this year during the regular season.

He should have gotten surgery immediately following his third title. I think in hindsight everyone can agree that’s what should have happened. It would have given him 18 months to train and get fully healthy.

Coming back and attempting to wrestle on two torn ACL’s was initially dubbed as noble, and a team player move. The recovery has clearly been troublesome and has potentially left him vulnerable to new injuries.

I hate seeing this and I think shutting it down for as long as it takes is the right call. Get healthy and try to make a run at 24. It might be his one and only chance. Has there ever been a more snake bitten stud? Idk how you can’t feel for Spencer.
Kem Dawg comes to mind.

Get lost...
Is this guy a troll and not really an Iowa fan? I see Lee's quote as talking to himself more so than insulting others. You triumph over adversity, you have aright to run your mouth a bit. Why not be proud of what you've accomplished. I would think wrestling fans have some idea how tough the sport is.
I will say the more you say things publicly, the more it will be used against you if you fail, but I think people read into that too much. If you gave it your best, and you should know, you have reason not excuses.

And Spencer has never made an excuse when things don't go his way.

How did Nick Lee the winner over Bartlett by a score 10-10?

Have to wonder if that will impact penn state recruiting. How will I tell my nonexistent children smh
Dense? If you can't understand the difference between 1 and 5 defaults, nor the difference between defaulting after a loss versus randomly picking a point in the tournament after a win, then.....funny, the same people who say "Drop it" then revive the conversation.

An incident versus a trend....that's what affects recruiting

Two Iowa match ups tonight with desanto and Marinelli, correct? Anyone else I'm forgetting?

Steveson said it pretty well, a part of this is a sport and there's entertainment value. Sure, Olympic success is a nice dream but it's rare and the sport has become a business along the way. People pay to see "matches". People pay to sponsor Iowa guys. Yes, injury is part of the sport, but so is the consequence that people move on or alter expectations. Honestly, I wasn't expecting Spencer to wrestle and was excited when he did. Even more with the collision with Suriano. Then, that goes away. The last two matches I followed him - and Jaydin for that matter - they defaulted out. I'm still a fan. But, that frustrates me as a fan. Nobody owes anything to me but I do pay to support Iowa wrestling, I do follow and cheer for the team, I do buy the apparel, and I do make change my expectations based on trends. That's all. Take it for all it's worth. We can't build or accept a culture that makes it too easy to default out!
