This is Dumb. Using tariffs is an extreme way to do business. Utilizing them for tit for tat negotiating is extreme overkill. It will take a beating on confidence in the market.

Mexico is putting 10000 of their troops on the border, to protect the US, to buy themselves a month.
This does capture the mindset of a Trump supporter pretty well. Dow craters 1,000, the next day it comes back 500 and Trumpers celebrate the big 500 point win.
Well you have to wonder if the peso and canadian dollar's tanking didn't have something to do with the pause. Peso is at it's lowest vs USD since 2021, canadian $ is at it's lowest vs USD since 2003.
