Uthoff Draft Stock Rising

Uthoff is a very unique player that is smart, coachable, skilled...someone will want him. Hopefully first round.
 
I don't see him going in the first round at all but I do think he'll get drafted. Probably around 40 of I had to guess

Yeah, you just never know. All it takes is one team to really be high on him and decide to pull the trigger with their first round pick. So many factors in play--team needs, strength of the draft, number of stretch 4s in the draft, etc.

Do you know Niang's draft outlook? I'm just curious because I've never heard any info.

I don't think Niang gets drafted. If he does great, if not he just needs to pick a team and he should perform well in the summer league to give himself a chance. He had a good combine and I read that NBA people think he's a better defender than he gets credit for but I don't think it will be enough to overcome his question marks.

He may not get drafted but I think he deserves a shot.

I'm just joking. I just don't see anyway a team takes him in the first round when you can get guys like him in the second. He is 23 with a limited upside. Draft Express has been the most accurate mock draft site the past couple of years and he isn't listed in either round but the second round is a total crap shoot.

With regards to the Celtics I saw that Draft Express recently changed the Celtics first pick from Chris to Dunn.

He's always been successful even when nobody gave him a chance so we'll see. I personally think he won't get drafted but will show enough in the summer league to stick somewhere but I wouldn't be surprised if never played a minute in the NBA and was a Euro Legend

Yes, I kind of figured as much. I was a little facetious with asking you who the Celtics were going to get. ;)
 
His age is working against him. Only 1 player his age is taken in 1st round in any given year.

However, with him sitting out 2 years, he's got low miles on those tires ;)
 
Kinda doubt he goes in the first round. Age is age and he's unlikely to change much, unlike the Deyonta Davis's of the world. He's probably in the 40's if I had to guess. I don't think Niang will get drafted, but may impress enough during the summer to make it on a team. He had a good combine. I wouldn't expect him to last long though and will probably have a great career in Europe.
 
Every year there are a crap ton of experts rendering their opinions. And every year there are always a few surprises. Anything is possible and most likely if Uthoff does get drafted it will be in the 2nd Round. However, it's interesting to read positive speculation regarding kids with Iowa connections. The one thing Jarrod does have going for him is he is 6'9 and a pretty good shooter. All it takes is one team to be high on him and he's a 1st round pick, which is exactly what the article is pointing out.
 
I don't know why Jarrod wouldn't at least go in the second round. Considering the vast majority (nearly all) of second round picks don't end up doing a whole lot in the NBA, why teams would skip over Uthoff - somebody with great range/shooting in general- because he's a year or two older blows my mind.
 
I found the link to six mock drafts and I'm sure there are many more experts out there giving their opinion. Many of them can not be experts when there is such a wide range of opinions in the number they project for the same player. Three of the six have Uthoff listed with the highest being 41 to 54 and one of the six has him on the bubble in 73rd place. Some have him as a small forward and some as a power forward. I think he would have to be a small forward in the NBA as power forwards in the league would bowl him over like was done in the NBA final series.

Makes sense to me; they were so thin in the front court this year none of them could even begin to play defense aggressively for fear of fouling out.

DraftExpress is widely considered the best mock draft out there. It really doesn't matter if Uthoff gets drafted or not anyways. If he doesn't get drafted he'll still have the summer league to prove his value. I actually do think he gets drafted for what it's worth.

OH BS...so lets see you call DraftExpress is widely considered the best (meaning you think so)...yet the best doesn't have Uthoff getting drafted in their pretend mock draft. .The hell it doesn't matter if Uthoff gets drafted..you do realize the differences in $ & guarantees for 1st rounders and summer league.

I said DraftExpress is widely considered the best one because it is. That's not my opinion and I don't really care either way about what site anyone prefers. I was implying getting drafted in the second round and not getting drafted really doesn't matter. Either way you have to perform in the summer league to prove your worth. I don't think Uthoff will be a first rounder which is why I said that.
 
DraftExpress has graded out at the industry leader for 10 years and counting. Last year they picked 15 out of the first 30 correct which is absurd. Ford graded out second and got 10 out of 30 correct

I'd agree with CyCity. And do any of us really care how much money JU makes next year?

The only reason most people (fans) care is because it's always cool seeing the Hawks represented in the draft (especially for what would be the third year in a row)

U missed the whole point..the clown fan who loves pointing out that a MockDraft doesn't have Uthoff getting drafted in either round & kindly points out the mockDraft site referenced guessed better than any other site did last year. And this is on a thread about how Uthoffs stock is rising....don't you love the help we get from CyClown?

Of course it doesn't make any difference how much Uthoff makes...but it does where he gets drafted. We will find out tonite.

Why are you so angry? I pointed out DraftExpress didn't have anyone from the state of Iowa getting drafted and then followed it up saying I think Uthoff does get drafted. DraftExpress is the best out there, if you don't know that you don't pay attention which is fine but that's no reason to attack me about it.

He has worked out for more than half the teams. If somebody likes him he will get picked a lot higher. If he doesn't make an NBA team he can make a fortune playing in Europe over the next 15 years.
