A vandal apparently damaged the wrong car early Wednesday morning in Aurora, and wanted the owner to know.

Aurora police said someone used yellow spray paint to write the phrase, "Sorry, wrong car," on the side of a damaged vehicle as it sat parked outside a home the 800 block of Oliver Avenue.

Two cars parked in the driveway of the home had their windows smashed out with a hammer, and both had been spray painted some time between 12:15 and 6 a.m., police said.

Police said phrases including, "I'm hungry," "I want a sandwich," and, "I smoke crack," were spray painted on both a Chrysler LeBaron and a Nissan Altima, in addition to the "Sorry, wrong car," phrase.

According to the homeowner, the hammer used in the incident had been taken from an unlocked garage. When police found it, it was sticking out the back window of the Altima.

The homeowner told police she has no idea who would have wanted to damage the vehicles.
