Vega Out at ISU

Honestly surprised Vega lasted this long with the new staff. Expect more to drop by the end of the year.
Agree. It's a good strategy, actually. Regardless why they are leaving, ISU isn't gonna do much for a few years and it sounds like Pollard will have great patience with the new staff.

Vega apparently left on his own, but if the staff needs to free up scholly $$$... set down rules that you know will force some guys out. I expect guys like Dante, Gremmel, and maybe even Simmons to leave.

Was he expected to start?
Yes. Was ranked low 30s by wrestlestat. Good potential but not a superstar. As Mitch noted, I'm sure Dresser would love to upgrade several weights, and this likely frees up some money to do so.

IMO he had too much patience with the old staff. I would hope he would give these guys plenty of time. Dresser is a proven head coach and Zadick is a proven assistant.

Some kids have fully bought in, others half way and others not at all..expect the half way and not at all kids to be gone or never see the mat. Scholarship dollars are year to year and Dresser and Co. will want their own kids. Vega (albeit probably too small to ever really compete at the top) has very good talent, but he quit in practices and gave up all the time. Nothing worse than that to that staff.

Jackson recruited (for the most part - there are some exceptions) a totally different wrestler than what Dresser and his staff will/have recruited.

I'm sure Vega was eating up some money..Simmons hasn't bought in and he might never see the mat again barring injury..I'm sure he is eating up money..Colbray is a bust..Gremmel doesn't have it and Dante hasn't bought in and there is actual depth at his weight..plus Storr might move up next year anyways

It is going to be year 4 at least probably before ISU puts out a good team.

This is a repeat of something I've mentioned before... Any comments I make are the culmination of info I've gleamed off various sites, including some forums, in regards to things happening with the program in Ames. I make predictions about wrestlers from seeing results. More often than not... I'm pretty close.

Most of us knew KJ was never going to get it done. It was only a matter of time. This may come across wrong, but he got some top notch recruits because of the racial component, imo.

My main dislike for ISU is primarily because of their envious fan base. I don't hide that.:D

That said, I realize most of you reading this don't give a shit what I think. That's perfectly fine.

Just thought I'd explain for some newbies here.

ISU is a HUGE rebuild. No doubt.

But if Dresser is forced to clean house... better to do it right away.
I agree, he needs to clear out as much as possible right now.

With that said, ISU is a very big rebuild, but isn't even close to the rebuild he had at VT. They were on the verge of shutting down the program.

I agree.. but the coaches might get it straight faster than 4 years.
