The familyy resemblance is uncanny.

Not looking to wade into the recruiting issue, just wondering which wrestler is your nephew.
OK. Good luck to both. He's a freshman 215...Eaghan Fleshman. His bro Emmitt was their 215 last year and is now at Wartburg. Family had to move to this side of the state from West Lyon.
Did those kids go through Alburnett youth program? At what age did they start at Alburnett? I don’t know all the names on the roster but I do recognize most. Just curious of the transplants. There are a few potential finalists on that team and the ones I know have been there through junior high at least.I agree it is likely cyclical for the small towns, with that said however...
I am not accusing them of recruiting, but I think they have a few open enrollees out of Linnmar...one potential finalist for sure. His dad had some kind of beef years ago with the coaches in the Linnmar youth program. He still lives in the Linnmar district.
There are some other pretty good wrestlers at Alburnett that went to grade school in the Linnmar district with my kids. I don't know their story (could be open enrolled, could have moved to Alburnett).
Those wrestlers will score a lot of team points in February.

Because there’s open enrollment and Alburnett is less than 10 miles from linn mar. Most of Alburnetts lineup are from long time district families. Alburnett has a strong youth program that draws a lot of kids from different schools and has for over 20 years. Why you are asking these questions instead of “where do these kids live?”

What excuse? I was trying to see who were the transfers.I always love this excuse. 😂

So if a kid likes the youth program at one school and switches schools that’s recruiting? If so the there’s recruiting going on all over the place. For recruiting.

I guess I should have been clearer in my initial post in this thread. I wasn't trying to accuse anyone of recruiting. The thread was discussing Alburnett's recent rise, and I was simply commenting they are benefitting from at least 1 stud from the Linn-mar district. I am unsure about a couple of other names (recognize the names from when my kid was in 1st/2nd grade and I don't know their story).Did those kids go through Alburnett youth program? The one I am familiar with was in the Alburnett youth program since at least junior high. I don't believe he was recruited. Quite the opposite really. As I stated earlier, Linn-mar coaches pissed the dad off, Dad moves the kid into the Alburnett program. Kudos to Alburnett, shame on the Linn-mar coaches as this kid would have slotted into the Linn-mar lineup as a 4 year starter.
Certainly worth consideration. In this case, the Linn-mar youth program was in the toilet until about 7 or 8 years ago. The high school head coach at the time (now retired) stood up at the end-of year youth potluck and said as much. He was somewhat "hands off" with the youth program up to that point, and the youth program has been better since he has been running it (and still is after retiring as far as I know).Ever think that the dad might be the one who’s wrong?
Crazy to think of in the youth sports world, I know, but maybe give it at least brief consideration.

So was the dad wrong? maybe. His kid probably developed better as a wrestler in the Alburnett youth program based on the state of the Linn-Mar program at the time. I personally would not open enroll my kids out of Linn-mar simply for a sport. To each their own I guess.
Yeah what parent wants what’s best for there child? 🤦I have zero idea. Just thought it was funny that it was immediately assumed the parent is the reasonable one. I usually assume the opposite.

Oh I’ll agree sports parents are nuts. But most wrestling parents know where to take their kids for the best fit. Maybe that’s changing clubs for better competition or using a coach they like.Sports parents are often complete maniacs. Wrestling parents are some of the worst offenders. If you haven’t noticed this, you’re probably one of them.

Sometimes I wonder if I am one of the nut jobs for the amount of money we send to Big Game on a monthly basis😬Sports parents are often complete maniacs. Wrestling parents are some of the worst offenders. If you haven’t noticed this, you’re probably one of them.
The fact that you’re giving any amount of money to Big Game means you’re a nut job.Sometimes I wonder if I am one of the nut jobs for the amount of money we send to Big Game on a monthly basis😬
