Anyone else still waiting on their karma to show up? I'm starting to think all of this karma shit is a hoax.

About 25 years ago, the wife and I were driving around Longboat Key when we drove up on something in the middle of the road. I got out to look and realized that it was a purse. Dead slap in the middle of the road. No one anywhere near us. I look in and find an envelope with $3600 in it. Could have easily kept it and no one would have been the wiser. But we did the right thing and turned it into the police and left our names, address and contact info, etc. and left.

Months go by and we get a letter in the mail from some girl thanking us. It was all of the money she had saved up from waitressing to go to Europe with. Apparently, the purse fell off the roof of her car. She went into detail about her time there and how she met the love of her life and had almost canceled the trip until she tried the LBKPD one more time and that money saved her trip.

Anywhoo, she went into this explanation of how Karma is real and is was coming for us because of our good deed. Well...I ain't seen shit. I gotta be coming up on the statute of limitations on this thing. I guess if something happens good I can say, "Hey, there's that karma" but that seems lazy.

Is there a dream catcher or some sort of crystal I can buy to put me in good with the Lords of Karma? Have you ever gotten your Karma? How did you know when you got it?

surprised the police didn't.
About six months ago I found a wallet in a parking lot. No contact info so I took it to the nearest police station. It was Sunday so they were pretty closed up to the public and had to send a squad car out to respond to me. The cop was so suspicious and annoyed by it all. I was just trying to do a nice thing for someone.

I guess it depends on what you’re looking for. Are you looking for $3600 worth of karma. Or whatever that equates to today.

I notice little breaks of karma come my way every so often as a result of some of the good things I do for people.
A couple of months ago I bought a pair of shoes that were on sale along with a few other items. Once I got home I noticed they forgot to charge me for the shoes.
they were only like $40-$50 shoes so I considered that a karma win for myself.

Just the other day after the crappy weather came back, I was driving into work and noticed the back end of my vehicle lost control from the snow on the road but I was able to regain control and not go in the ditch. To me that was karma, if I had done something bad recently, I may have been sitting in the ditch in that situation.

stop waiting for a big karma to happen and notice the good little things that happen around you that could have been a lot worse.

imagine someone coming up to you on the day of lord's rest and asking you to do more work

Maybe 12 years, we were leaving a basketball tournament and walking around the school to the parking lot and I saw what looked like cash laying in the grass. I went over and there were 3 $100 bills and several $20's, just kind of blowing around. I picked them up and took them in to the parents who were running the admission desk and explained it to them, thinking maybe someone would ask them if anyone had turned it in. I saw the look in the lady's eyes when she said "Oh I'll take that, thanks" and I'm pretty sure she just pocketed it. But I would have felt bad if I hadn't turned it in.

You may have already exhausted that karma. Can you think of any period of time where something terrible didn't happen? Maybe you burned up your karma by avoiding choking to death on that 36th wing during a lively lunch? Maybe what seemed like a normal day was nearly ruined by a catastrophic heart attack that didn't happen due to this good deed years back?

I would prefer she never mentioned it as it has been haunting me to this day! I wake up every morning saying, "OK big guy...today is the day! No whammies...Big Bucks...KARMA!" Then go to bed all sad and fat.

The satisfaction you get from knowing that you changed the trajectory of that young woman's life is better than anything $3,600 can buy...except for maybe hookers and blow.

Tough choice 25 years ago. I would have been in the same boat as you. I could have used the money then, but I would never have lived that down.

Nothing close to that happened in my life. One time I was at the grocery store with my 8 year old son, and he found a $50 dollar bill that we swear someone walking out dropped. My son was excited about the found money (we had this game of finding change in parking lots), but I told him to catch up to the old man and return it to him. The man said it wasn't his, but looked happy that my son was trying to give the money back. I still swear the money belonged to him, and was just testing to see if a person would do the right thing in that situation. So my son got it both, the cash and the feeling that comes with doing the right thing.

CSD (cool story dad).

The only thing I can think of was winning the All Valley Karate Tournament. But that was all heart a guts.

You haven't been fired for spending all your time on HORT. I figure you're actually running a karma surplus at this point.

I know a guy who gave $50 of his own money to support some high school football program with the promise that he would receive some swag. It's probably been seven years and I haven't seen anything either. Crazy

You did the honorable thing. It wasn't yours so you turned it in. There's no such thing as Karma, unless it could be described as feeling good about yourself and how you've lived your life. For some that's enough. For others it's not.

I dropped an envelope with 1800 dollars in it. Called the casino
Went to dinner. They found the woman who picked it up. She was playing a slot. Went the job and they told her to give back she claimed she did not have it. They said you give it to or deal with police
I had great karma. They refused the Reward.

I've found several items on the side of the road while cycling, including a couple of iPhones. Was able to track the owners down both times.
One time I found someone's credit card and i tracked them down through facebook and messaged them and they were like "why the f are messaging me creep?" and i was very conflicted, like, i thought i was helping??? I still cringe about that.

Well it’s probably because you were using her credit card and sending her creepy messages.
