Was Ayala at the meet tonight?

ayala wasn't a guaranteed scorer anyway, though i loved his upside. if he's seriously hurt and it's an injury that could get worse, not wrestling might be smart. he likely wouldn't score anyway.

on the flip side, with spencer back next year, he would have 2 years to get right again. unfortunate situation.

Do you really think Tom will wrestle him if he's really hurt. He's smarter than all of you when it comes to wrestling...
Ummm have you heard of Spencer Lee? Or have you seen kem’s bullet proof vest? Or how about Warner and his wrapped leg screaming in agony from a bow and arrow? Desanto’s fingers, murin’s elbow…on and on. Wrestlers wrestle hurt all the time. Heard nick lee is pretty hurt. And rby hopefully isn’t wearing shoulder tape to start a fashion trend. It’s a tough sport so unless his back is broken or something, he will probably go soon enough.

What would you say if he can go in March and gets enough points for the Hawks to bring home the title? What if hes a difference maker for the team?
Those guys like to keep athletes in s box, praying it will pay off four years in the future.

A healthy Ayala as the 8/9 in Detroit would’ve been a whole, WHOLE lotta f*n.

I would say I love that idea. But, I would also say that he’s a true freshman dealing with a significant injury. Why risk him getting hurt more when his upside is so damn high. I believe that Iowa will be in the mix for the team race next year as well, especially with Spencer coming back.

I don’t think anyone can say for certain that he’ll be able to contribute the same when he comes back. Cory Clark was a senior, Kemdawg is a senior that’s why they’re out there. It’s their last hurrah. Drake is gonna have a ton of success, and I want to give him the best chance to do that. That to me means starting next season healthy.

PSU has a black hole at 157, and I don’t think they’ll get much from 165. I could see Iowa getting 8 AA’s and 2-3 finalist, throw in a dash of luck and we’re right there this year without getting anything from 125. That’s a lot of hope riding on Murin, Young, Assad, but I think they all could have a solid NCAA’s.
I would like to know what the significant injury is.

Thanks! Thats what I was looking for in an answer.. So people are mentioning Cullen would he be a better option then Ybarra?

Still kills me Lugo didn’t get his title in 2020.
It still saddens me for all the seniors that year. And as much as I was upset when Cenzo lost to Lewis the previous year, I am glad the cancelled tournament only cost Cenzo the chance at being a three timer and not a four timer.

Those Marinelli versus Joseph matches were some of the greatest shows ever on a wrestling mat. Must see TV IMO.

They sure were. It is a shame the 2020 national tournament was cancelled and we never had the chance to potentially see another match between those two. Let it be said again, COVID sucks!
