Washington fans humiliated by defeat want Jedd Fisch out

All it takes for me is to watch the on going nightmare going on in the Middle East and Ukraine on TV. Can’t imagine waking up to that everyday.
AGREE.

Was going to post about people sleeping under trees in southern Lebanon but I thought that would take too long.

Pretty small “inconvenience”, for some people, to have to stand for our national anthem.

Just my opinion.

And I never served in the military or had any intentions too.

But I’ll damn sure thank anybody past or present who served/sacrificed for ALL of us to be able to drink beer, watch football, & bitch about Brian Ferentz.😉

Yeah, I wish America was like those perfect nations. The ones who don’t enforce their borders or laws on anyone but their own citizens. The ones who don’t have any historical sins whatsoever. Who are they again?
America is one of the best places on earth to live, and of course utopia does not exist and never will.

In no way does that mean the U.S. doesn’t have problems to fix, and past transgressions to atone for. I don’t understand why that is unpatriotic?

I think Kirk Ferentz is an outstanding coach, and Iowa is lucky to have him. He also could be better at some things. It’s okay to admit that.

It’s your mindset that thinks Kirk Ferentz’ clock management is just fine, and racism for example, doesn’t exist in America.

Me: I love America, it is awesome, and I want it to be even better.

Self proclaimed patriot: Why are you a Marxist?!?!

Me: We are so fvcked.

Well man if you have not figured it out, about 50% of the country is, so if you want to hate on half of all the people you know in the US, then so be it I guess.
It’s easy to fool people. It’s much harder to convince people they have been fooled…

Is it? Nebraska had to re-evaluate themselves as a program after losing to Iowa and our recent success on O the last few years isn't flattering. I'm not convinced it's BS. I'm not sure those fans know much more about the program.
The Nebraska program reevaluation issue comes from a quote from Shawn Eichorst, the Nebraska AD, after Nebraska beat (not lost to) Iowa in 2014. Eichorst fired Bo Pelini in spite of Nebraska beating Iowa, which makes the insult even worse.

I've had the privilege of traveling to over 30 countries around the world & live 30 miles from the Mexican border. This is the greatest country in the world, by far, bar none. Love it or leave it, see how you like living in a 3rd world lawless country. Which is what many of our cities have become.

MAGA, loud & proud.

I've experienced the severe poverty and lawlessness in other countries too, have family on both sides of the border and have spent time there, you aren't kidding brother.

Not big into the sayings and motivational poster stuff. If people need those for knowing who they are or what they need to do then something else is wrong.

Something is certainly wrong.

We have reached a point at which I’m afraid a consequential portion of Americans have dissociated from reality, and they don’t know it. My parents are examples.

That is a problem, and one I don’t know how to fix. Maybe bring back the fairness doctrine and enforce it? I highly doubt anything like that comes back. At least not in our current political climate.

As I said earlier, Washington is going to be a tough out going forward. They play anything close to a clean game on any given week, and they’ll be competitive with just about anybody.

See what I just did there? It’s called the weave, and 100s of English professors across the country say I do it so beautifully; it nearly brings them to tears. I’m generally a truthful person.

The fact we play the National Anthem at every sporting event in this country is absolutely ridiculous.
They always played the national anthem but having the teams standing out for the anthem is a new phenomenon. I played college ball and we (as a team) were always in the locker room during the anthem that was even the years following 9/11. Even in high school there were times that we were walking to the stadium or in the team room when the anthem was being played. We just stopped walking but weren't required to be on the field

I am a pretty conservative guy but I don't understand the anthem being played at domestic sporting events. Football is entertainment. We don't play the anthem at a play/Movie(also forms of entertainment. I get it at international events during the awards ceremony and maybe if we play in canada/UK

I think a couple of you should go live in another country, because you are doing this one zero good......
Guilty.

I hate the exact shit that I’m doing on here too. I also hate stupid people saying ignorant stuff, and on certain days, like this one, I have hard time staying silent. It’s a pickle!!!! One guy makes an ignorant comment about Washington players when he has no idea what was going on, and the damn breaks. That combined with a couple clients cancelling today, and I’ve got time on my hands.

Unfortunately they have Hawkeyebeacon on the internet in other countries too. Us assholes will be able to post there too.😔

You are not one of the ones I was referring to. I was looking at the ones that seem to have problems understanding why the national anthem is played in our country. You seem like you might be the more level-headed ones here.....

So many great patriots on this board. I’m glad all of you are ok with this country being build on genocide and slave labor.
Weren't you worried about bullying in the Off Topic boards? Do you have any idea what people do to those who are different in other countries? It goes beyond bullying man! Count your blessings when it comes to the US because I sense you wouldn't make it anywhere else. And the simple fact that some question why the anthem is played before events also need humbled.

Long time Hawkeye fan here (since the 60's) who has relocated to Arizona. Jedd Fisch came into a dumpster fire at Arizona after Sumlin destroyed a program that was already average at best under RichRod. 1-10, 5-7 and 10-3 in his three years. He rebuilt the program by incorporating past players, strong recruiting along with an innovative coaching style. Offensively they were a real handful his last two seasons -- very good play caller. When he took the UW job, he thought many of the players he had recruited and developed at U of A would follow, especially the QB, WR and top LB. A few did but those key players chose to stay. Don't know if he is in it at UW for the long term -- he has a real tendency to bolt, but if he does, they will be much better next season. UW has much deeper pockets than UA and of course is much more of a football school. But I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave after a couple of good seasons for the next big think.

Short-sighted. And this needs to go to the OT board.

Wouldn't you after that mess. Run and throw up and down the field and then inside the red zone call the dumbest plays that should be called.
One thing about KF, he has gotten rid of a few coaches while he is allowed to linger for ever. USC canned their coach after losing to Iowa too. KF is the coach killer!

IOWA beat USC in the 2019 Holiday Bowl. Helton wasn’t fired until after the 2nd game September of 2021.

I also have wondered where playing the national anthem began-I'm guessing a band director somewhere. But now it is such an entrenched tradition that failure to participate means only one thing-rejection of the country for which the flag is a symbol of the United States.

Did Britny Greiner, a notorious anti-American flag and anthem, knelt for the flag but went running to the country for which the flag stands to get her out of Russia. Not the International Court(s), not human rights commissions but specifically to the country that she obviously hates.
