I don’t post here much but lurk daily. I moved to Washington 2.5 years ago from AZ and I have had season tickets the past 3 seasons. I get season tickets wherever I live, total CFB junkie. You have to growing up in Iowa, right?

Yesterday sucked, no doubt. UW fans are excited to experience Kinnick and The Wave. Husky stadium is very much like a big ten atmosphere compared to the other Pac schools, aside from Oregon. I can’t wait to see the Hawks out here in 2 years.

I’ve watched every game of both teams. My prediction would be Iowa winning 24-13.

I can answer any questions about the team throughout the week. I’m not an expert but I’d say I’m fairly knowledgeable. I follow them a bit more serious now that I have a family friend that has been on the team the past 2 years.

Last note, as bad as yesterday was, I’ll appreciate every Iowa game I can. My grandpa is a huge Iowa fan. He has Parkinson’s now and my favorite part of every week is talking to him at halftime/postgame of Iowa games.

Go Hawks!

Are they more of a balanced offense under this new head coach, or does everything still revolve around their spread offense/passing game?

It’s definitely more balanced. They lost several OL to the NFL and SEC from last year’s team. The line isn’t good but they are improving some.

The best weapon on offense is the RB, Jonah Coleman. He’s not Johnson but he’s like a bowling ball. Small, compact, fast and physical. UW still has some very good WR’s too and Mohamad is a talented freshman back up RB. They rotate 3 RB’s but Mohamad is beginning to get the second most carries.

I don’t think UW will have much success running on Iowa, IMO.

One X factor: UW likes to bring in their freshman QB to mix up the run and do designed read options with him. He’s small but very fast and has a good arm too. He will be the guy next year. Sometimes (Often) it ruins the rhythm of drives too, though.

Rodgers has surprised me. He’s a pretty good QB. He’s no threat to run.

Hawks will be favored at home, not by much. The Huskies will always be in the game. You'll love Kinnick and Iowa City, enjoy the trip.

Iowa has a roster loaded with experience and a HC that’s been here since last century, while UW has an entirely new roster and completely new coaching staff, and will be playing in Kinnick when their biological clocks say it’s 9 am….

….and I fully expect the Huskies to hand it to the Hawks on Saturday…

I see this game as rather pivotal, like the Minnesota game. On the road, I wouldn't like our chances at all, but in Kinnick it seems like a game we should be able to pull out. Washington is comparable to several teams left on the schedule -- not great but certainly able to beat the Hawks on any given day. We get the record to 4-2 with a win and a chance at 8 or possibly 9 wins remains on the table, and it would be a confidence boost coming off of the inevitable thrashing in the Shoe. We lose and drop to 3-3 and there's a decent chance the wheels fall off and they limp to a very disappointing 6- or 7-win season.

Whoa whoa whoa....just a cotton pickin' minute here, pal!

When did they change the rule that prohibits more than one QB playing in a game??

It’s fairly annoying to Washington fans and can disrupt rhythm. I think it helped last week. Kids talented.

I was super young but as an adult would have lost my mind at KF being so slow on Brad Banks. He’s been incredibly annoying with QBs.

Washington looks a pretty balanced team offensive and defensively, with a balanced attack: 196 passes and 197 runs (although I suppose that includes sacks too).

Not good on special teams (ranked #129 in FPI): given up blocked fg and punt, a few long kick and punt returns, kicker is like 60% on fgs with long of 44, and less than 36 yds net punt average.

They are also not great on 3rd down (like 38% or so) and are among the most penalized teams in the country (about 7.5 per game).

Typical good disciplined play on both sides of the football should win this one. And maybe Wetjen can house one finally.

Aren't these traditional B1G teams vs the new, new, new B1G teams fun? For now, they kinda have a Rose Bowl-ish feel to them, lol.

And at least Saturday's game won't be laden with the West Coast curse. How cool to have the Huskies in Kinnick finally.

It's kinda interesting to note when Washington kicked Iowa around in the '82 RB, that same season they lost 31-0 to UCLA. That would be the same UCLA team Iowa whipped up on in Kinnick 20-7.

Plenty of other examples over the years of futility for the "road" team in matches involving the two conferences, of course.

Finally, Washington is just a .500 team after all. I very much like our chances in Kinnick!

Lots of wrong in this thread. Some haters got disappointed Saturday.
Iowa was rightfully favored in the game for a reason - they're the more disciplined team.

Washington was the right opponent at the right time - a solid-but-sloppy crew that's vulnerable against teams that can run the ball with consistency (like Iowa). Even then, I don't think many of us expected a complete beatdown - UW just hasn't gotten whipped like that very often the past few seasons.

At this point, I think we all know what Iowa is - a one-trick pony on offense with a shakier-than-expected secondary. But the pony we have is a damn good one to bet on, and while the Hawks might not run the table the rest of the way (I fully expect turnovers or another controversial call to do us in at some point), they'll at least compete in all of them. 9-3 definitely an achievable goal.

Well said. We've played the best QB's we're going to play at this point besides Raioli from Nebraska. I think we're all a little over hyped up after scoring 40 pts on Saturday. But the schedule moving forward could not be any easier. Let's hope Lester keeps adding a few more wrinkles every week, he was fantastic on Saturday, and our defense can continue to get more pressure on the QB with the 4 man rush.

Nebraska's O-Line is trash, as Knebbers season progresses I wouldn't be surprised to see Raiola get hurt or beat up so badly he is a liability just being on the field.

Ravioli will be tested in the final stretch of the season. Debbie shit the bed in their final four games last year. People seem to have forgotten that.

Oh yes, and they will be 5-3 by the time they leave October….
10/19 @ Indiana
10/26 @ tOSU

It doesn’t get much better in November….
11/2 vs UCLA
11/16 @ USC
11/23 vs Wisconson
11/29 @ Iowa

At best, 7-5, more likely 6-6 to finish the season. I love it.
