*Final score was 81-80. That was without a shot-clock.
*Speaking of the shot- clock, I am thankful to the college basketball gods for a shot-clock.
* When did weight training take off in college basketball? It just seemed like there were a lot of skinny guys playing.
*Georgetown had 3, yes 3, white guys, two of which played. When did Thompson start stacking his team with all black players?
*There was a running scroll at the bottom of the screen telling Hawkeye fans they were NOT supposed to greet the players at the airport but at the Fieldhouse at 10:00 PM (Including the wrestlers). They were late getting back, but boy oh boy when they got there what noise! What a freaking good time and memories. My dad took me and my younger brother down. I was there at the age of almost 12. The Louisville and Purdue games were a blur. I had chickenpox all over my body and in my throat. I was miserable. I watching the games while on the couch, but I slept way more. Paying attention to basketball games wasn't exactly a high priority (I have an older sister and the younger brother. I was the first one to get sick, but within a couple of weeks they got sick too.).

Was that on BTN or did you find an old, dusty VHS copy lying around?

Yeah, always funny to see the twig armed, skinny dudes of that era. Until recently, also used to be amusing to see them in short shorts. But now the shorts are getting shorter again.

I was too young to remember anything from this game - except..

I was doing whatever in the living room, then heard this noise of glee or some kind coming from my dad - kinda unusual for him, and looked over to him.

I swear he went from a sitting position on the couch to floating 8 feet in the air with a loud "YES!". Must have happened after Waite's shot. Will never forget the site of that.

the biggest shot in the last 40 years of Iowa basketball. I became a life long , die hard Iowa fan that day.

I remember at the local elementary, where a lot of high school kids played pick-up, a game spontaneously broke out.

This despite the temps, may have been the first game of the calendar year. People just couldn't contain their energy.

I was in the concourse of the Summit in Houston. Had tickets for the Louisville-LSU Regional Final. Some guy with a 9” TV and a huge battery pack had the Iowa-Georgetown game going. What a finish. Great basketball day. I miss those days of chasing Regionals each March.
