That last bucket by usc typified our d this whole half. No one comes off their man to force the kickout, you could see that tunnel vision blowby a mile away.
Lots of teams have great nights on offense against Fran's teams.

Fran let them play bully ball on Harding for most of the game and get whatever they wanted.
Finally gets Harding off the floor late and Thelwell starts blowing by his man at will showing just how slow they actually are.
If Harding can't go by guys twice his size then this isn't going to work. You can't be a liability on both ends.

In the NCAA play I see teams that go small and aren't super athletic but they go balls out on defense and rebounding and put
up a better showing than these Hawks. Elite scoring team, but can't get any stops.
Him and Harding or Pryce on the floor together can be brutal on defense.

Just over 2 minutes left, Iowa scores and cuts the lead to 8 (Franny is sitting on 3 TOs).......... but not one of our coaches calls a timeout to stop the clock?????? And then 2 possessions later with 1:40 left (and still 3 TOs) a weird sequence happens. USC gets a rebound, Payton pressures the ball getting a foul to stop the clock (like he should) and our coaches are telling him NO! Don't do it! Throw the towel in! We want to concede this game and, the way it is going, the season as well. Payton was clearly dumbfounded looking at the bench wondering why he would be told to not foul. Very odd sequence..... but seems to be on par for the season so far.
would this be a bad time to ask for an RELB from Beth (raise, extension, larger buyout)???
Bad defense, no bench. Rough night on the road. Another opportunity awaits. Need these Q1 wins.
