For this team that's all that matters. It sucks to lose. It sucks even more to get blown out. Blaming players and coaches won't change the outcome. We'll learn from this loss and move forward and hopefully make a deep NIT run.

I don't think the wheels are falling off. Some players had a bad night. Indiana was very physical in the paint and shot lights out from beyond the arc. Outside of JoBo, Iowa shot poorly tonight. That's not going to happen too many times going forward.

Lots of mistakes happened. We didn't execute. But getting angry and complaining that players suck or coaches suck isn't gonna change squat.

Great post!

It's true, who here expected us to make the NCAA at the start of the year?? It was a pipe dream.

This group was very inexperienced and had a learning curve. The crazy thing is this team has 1 game stolen from them (Minny). They won 2 games on the road vs top 25 teams. They played beyond their years.

If Fran can find another guard (slasher/defensive threat) we could be very good next year and years beyond!

I'm sure Connor is going to be smart player and decent shooter. I doubt he
has the Indian guard's slashing ability or that kind of quickness on defense.
Stopping perimeter guys from getting to rim and defending 3ball is going to be achilles heel.

Williams and Moss are the best perimeter defenders on the team at the moment IMHO. Really surprised Williams didn't get more minutes tonight. The team's perimeter defense will improve with conditioning and flexibility to address lateral movement.

This Is where if anyone transfers Fran has to look into a grad transfer guard to come in. Have to find an athletic guard who can play.

If no one transfers, we will be one of the "slowest" teams in college basketball.

Our slow guys scored most of our points. Some of our fastest guys had either no points (Williams) or no rebounds (Baer). It wasn't our night, and not Fran's fault. Indiana has a lot more talent than we have, records be damned.

I forget where I saw this, but any team considered on the bubble, is around the top 22 percent of all teams. Helluva season by Iowa's frosh. Nothing to hang their heads about.

Again.agree.nit can help much and overseas.EXPERIENCE.

As you look forward to the NIT, you will see another
home game for the Hawkeyes in Carver.

As you anticipate the NIT, you will see the Hawks
go deep into the tournament and end up in the
semi-finals.

There will more 3's by Jok and Bohannon, more
dunks by Cook and Pemsl, more steals by Moss
and Baer......stay tuned to the NIT.

They didn't get in the tournament by not showing up today when they should've had incentive to play well. Playing in the nit isn't going to make this season any better. We can only hope it makes them better for next year.

Another thing you need in tournament time is your upper classsmen stepping up. We all saw that this team was Jok and a bunch of Freshman. Young players are inconsistent at times and last night you saw the bad. Good teams have the upperclassmen off set the poor play by the freshman. Iowa does not have the luxury.

If I'm Fran I have a long talk with the sophomores and juniors and find out what they are going to do to make the team better in the off season.

Look at the preseason predictions for this team.. NO way anyone thought they would have a shot at the Tourney, figured to be bottom of the Big Ten, After losing to Omaha the whole fan base thought we might not win 5 games in the Big 10. As young as this team is with having stretches without Jok and Cook arguably our best players, they still managed to win 10 games in conf. Finishing above the likes of OSU and Indiana, and tied with MSU, Michigan, and NW. Beat several ranked teams, a couple on the road. To me this season was a total success and we should just enjoy getting a chance to continue to watch them play.. Knowing that the future is Very Bright! I really do love this team!

Good Post! I agree this season was a roller coaster. From the non-conf all the way up to the BTT. It just sucks that this team ran into the buzz saw that was IU. It was a tough match-up because it was contrasting styles. On paper it was a bad match-up and sadly on the court it was as well. This team over came a lot this year and the one thing I noticed is how the freshman grew up. Just from game 1 to game 32 their improvement gives me hope. I think this group will continue to work hard and next year you could be looking at a possible Big Ten contender come November. This group is very basketball smart and they will only get better from here on out.

Whatever seed they get in the NIT I will be cheering for them. I just hope the team comes with a little more energy and uses it as a stepping stone for next season.

Iowa showed up last night. They had their lungs ripped out by a more talented team playing at their peak.

Sometimes, you must give the other team credit. Last night is one of those times. When Indiana is defending great, not turning the ball over, and hitting their 3's, they can beat anybody. Like they beat NC and Kansas this year.

I've never seen Pemsel dunk.. not that I don't think he can't.. I just don't think he believes that's his strong suit.. if he does increase his jumping ability he beomes way more of a threat next year.

While I do believe our chances of the big dance are slim to none, Joe Lunardi didn't move us or K State at all which was interesting to say the least. I thought K State would go ahead of CUSE but at this point what do I know. And he still has us as the third team out even after the debacle. Come Selection Sunday, I don't expect the Hawks to be called but I've seen stranger things happen

Bohannon, Moss and Pemsl played good last night for the most part. Everyone else, not so much. Jok should of been benched longer and Baer was non-existent. As for Cook, he needs to go to big man camp, how many times did he get stuffed.

I'm hoping Moss turns into that guy, I see him playing more next year and improving his D and outside shot but he's better when he's driving to the hoop, he also doesn't get blocked he will be very important next year!

Six weeks ago, we would have been happy to see a NIT birth. Now it feels like a punch in the balls.

SO true! Heck many at that time were begging for us to squeak into the NIT. Then things started happening and this team played well above their expectations with a shot at the NCAAs and every got their hopes up. I still felt the NIT was the land point for Iowa this year. But you never know maybe the committee will pull a last year Syracuse and put Iowa in. Just for Giggles.

I agree with all of the comments about even the NIT is above the expectations at the beginning of the season or even as late as 3 weeks ago. It is good for the guys and fans that we will likely have another game at Carver where they have played better this season. However, if the same defense shows up that played yesterday, another loss results and am not sure much has been gained except another game film tape for Fran to show them how bad they can play defensively but there are already plenty of those in the storage closet. Baer needs to figuratively grab this team by the balls and lead the way as the NIT games are the best path to the future.
I say Baer as he clearly has the greatest impact on this team on the court. Jok has shown very little leadership especially with his lazy defensive approach and I don't think Uhl or Ellingson look like they are the leader type. Open the Baer cage and let him roar!
