We Have Now Lost the Democracy We Thought We Had But Didn’t Really Have

Kind of Sad
Kind of Funny
Pretty Much Deserved

The extremes at both ends are in denial

Got popcorn?
It's actually working exactly as it should. The government is doing what the people asked it to, and the government is now fearing the people, not vice versa.

And yes, I have popcorn.

And you're also right about the extremes, but they aren't going anywhere. Dems would be wise to detach from their extremes because they're losing support at a record rate.

Well, that’s not true for half the country. We’re scared as hell that our country is being destroyed, along with our respect - and eventually our influence - over the rest of the world.

And, no, it’s not working the way it is supposed to. Our democracy has always been much more fragile than most of us realized. Trump tested its limits in 2020, and had he lost would have tested it even harder in 2024. Now we’re seeing how much he can get away with far above anything our Founders envisioned. It’s going through an extreme stress test now, but you’re fine because libs are being owned.

Does the President have the power to unwind student loans?

I didn’t hear much chirping about that voter drive effort from the Executive branch when that went down.

I think (just a SWAG) that half the country has been scared for more than four years.
A President who was not mentally capable yet who had a finger near “the button” ought to scare more than half the electorate.
I wanted two new candidates altogether because we have no idea if DJT will prove to be fit at his age to govern in a way that is required.
How was your trip to Ponte Vedra?

Many are saying that our so called country of LAWS is not really that complete. When the courts tell the Dumpster Admin they are breaking laws etc and they have to restore all of these depts and agencies but the Admin doesnt stop then what police force or authority is going to stop them.

Scotus could rule totally against trump and for the constitution of laws but Trump will ignore it because who really can stop them. There could be major fines on trump people but who is going to make them pay.

It is sad as you say. Judges could order the freezing of assets maybe, I am not sure

If we made it illegal to bribe politicians like it was originally done and was there until Citizens United we might be able to get it back

Or maybe you’re just a pussy who gets queasy when a leader acts with decisiveness. Smart money’s on that option.
So let's say The Dumpster decides to launch a first strike of all our nuclear weapons to show how decisive he is.

I am sure that fits into your rhetoric of the decisive leader. But it would be wildly stupid and illogical, just like trying to move over a million gazans who dont want to move and own that land.

Is trump going to pay gazans for their property or just steal it. your decisiveness argument fails a million ways.

I's funny when Dems go back to the losing Democracy line. It's pure BS.
The President of the United States rejected the results of a free and fair election. Aggressively. We were one hard right Cristian Conservative with a conscious from a full blown constitutional crisis, and we had a violent assault on our Capital - also to try to overthrow the election.

So F off with your obnoxious attempt to downplay all of this.

You HAVE to be smarter than this. I’ve REPEATEDLY said this is our reality.
This whole thing is a GIANT ass operation to get so much going on at once that it results in exactly what is going on: mass hysteria, confusion, wailing and a shit ton of Kabuki theater.
Throw every damn thing against the wall and if half of it sticks DJT is going to call it a win.
Am I defending it? You think so? I’m laughing at it.
It’s “mad genius” and frankly not every bit of it is bad. A huge reset is absolutely needed.

Dumb argument. Trump didn’t campaign on a nuclear first strike, nor did anyone elect him to do so. As for the terrorstinians, to hell with them. They’ve been fvcking around for almost 80 years. Now they’re finding out.

Jan 6 was Pelosi’s fault and she admitted it.

Her words, not mine.

At whose expense?

There are things that are affected that are not in our best interests and I’ll just leave it at that.

You know me. I’m not bullshitting.

Some serious stuff is happening. Think about it. I didn’t leave CT just because of the weather. Where could I go that was in no danger of another 9/11 type thing?

I should add that I know most all of the AF bases, their command centers, and what they do.

Unless you’re a BRAT, you don’t know the difference of SAC, TAC, and MAC. They have since changed and consolidated with other branches of service.

You’re old enough to remember the Cuban missal crisis, but you weren’t on a SAC base. One never forgets those things.

Likewise one never forgets when the VC went after American kids in Saigon.

My dad was on the IG staff for many years before he moved to AWS. I’m sure none of this makes sense to many. You have to live it to understand it.

I will say this. In one of my BRAT groups, you could say they were split 50/50. In the last week it’s gone 80/20 against what’s going on, and, for many of the reasons I have stated on these boards.

All the stuff that he throws out there is total BS. Most people know that. That’s not what we’re worried about.

We are worried about how he has increased our vulnerability as a nation. People should be concerned about that, but maybe no one cares because they think the price of eggs will go down.

Talk to someone who was stranded on the east side of Berlin after WW2, or maybe someone who was a child in Shanghai in the ‘40’s.

Ever meet German Jews that fought in the underground against Hitler?

We’re a product of our past experiences and you certainly don’t have to listen nor pay attention to anything I say, but one thing you and others should understand is, there’s a reason I say what I do.

The Executive Branch has waaay too much power. I'm talking about the Bureaucracy. Trump is attempting to fix that.
