Well what do you know? Oregon shooter obtained all his guns legally

Your problem seems to be that you really don't have a clue what you are talking about. All gun dealers is every state has to ru

Do you not understand that Dealers have to do background checks on every gun purchase unless the State has a purchase permit system? On top of that each State can require that all gun transfers go through a licensed dealer if they choose. Did you know that any internet transaction that is made to a different State has to be shipped to a FFL dealer? I can't ship my shotgun to my son in Indiana to use for hunting season without shipping it to an FFL.

Most people I know try to hide their ignorance, you seem to wear yours like a badge of honor.

I'll also ask you the question I asked him. Let's see if you're too chicken shit to answer it.

I'll ask you again. I will listen to any suggestions and will champion any of them that I think will help curb this problem. Will you?

The U.S. needs to get rid of all guns in civilian hands. Piss on hunting also. Who needs to shoot animals? Nobody. NRA is worthless bunch of hillbillies.

The US govt can't afford to fight a war(s) in the middle-east and at home.

So you're going to tell me there the is nothing more stringent than what Oregon is doing?

Or are you going to tell me that we couldn't create more stringent national standards?

Hell, let me make it easier for you. Do you think the current system is sufficiently thorough, or do you think we could make improvements?

Most people I know try to hide their stupidity, you seem to wear yours like a badge of honor.
Have you heard of 1 crime this man committed before he did this? Have you heard that he was in any kind of treatment for mental health problems?. If not then there was nothing to keep him from passing any background check anywhere. There is nothing you could have done to prevent him from getting a gun that wouldn't violate the Second Amendment for all of us.
That is what it comes down to. The only way to do any of the stupid ideas that you keep throwing out in all of these threads would require this country to repeal the Second amendment. You can't even get stricter background checks. How in the hell will you get the Second Amendment repealed?

There are over 300,000,000 guns in this country. The ship has already sailed. People who desire to do harm to masses of people will always have the means to do it. On top of that there are many other ways to commit mass murder.

According to Wiki, Oregon has no restrictions on assault weapons, no license requirement, no registration requirement, no permit requirment. They are open carry, allow you to transport guns across their state, and have no NFA restrictions.

Off hand, I would say that Oregon has very loose gun laws.

And what is Oregon's violent crime rate compared to the rest of the country?

Except that's just a hypothesis.

If I could walk downstairs to the shop that is in my building and buy a (this will show my ignorance of drugs) gram of cocaine, I would be infinitely more enticed to do cocaine. I still wouldn't, but one major deterrent would be removed. This shooter had a major deterrent removed, as Oregon doesn't require stringent checks. Even if they did, perhaps this tragedy still happens, but wouldn't other tragedies necessarily be caught in that trap?

On top of that, if you went through all of that, why wouldn't you want others to go through that. You don't need to go through that for a number of guns nationwide. You don't have to go through that for any guns in a number of states. Why is this "off the table"?

Why? Why specifically are gun enthusiasts against more regulations? Presumably you will still abide by the requirements to own a gun. Or are they going to be too difficult for you? Is that what you're really trying to sell?

I'll ask you again. I will listen to any suggestions and will champion any of them that I think will help curb this problem. Will you?
What would be your "stringent checks"?

Everything listed in this thread a pure hypothesis regardless of which opinion you have.

Your example of comparing cocaine to firearms is apples and oranges. Guns an be purchased legally, cocaine can't be. The only way to compare these is to make cocaine legal or guns illegal. We know which one you prefer.

All of the regulations i followed are federally mandated, not just a state law.

Why should I or any gun owner have to jump through additional "hoops" to enjoy the freedoms allowed to us in an attempt to hide the real problem?

"I'll ask you again. I will listen to any suggestions and will champion any of them that I think will help curb this problem. Will you?[/QUOTE]"

So you are willing to listen and champion any suggestion as long as you like it? That's quite the disclaimer for someone that wants to appear open minded. Basically if someone makes a proposal that goes against what you want or believe, they're wrong.

The most ignorant part of your post is who needs to shoot animals. Ask that to a farmer who's crops are eaten by deer or the person that hit one with their car.

Guns don't kill prople, gun free zones do. The security guard carried mace.
THE security guard? The area of the college seemed rather large. Are you saying there was one security guard for the whole campus or one for each building.

"Champion" is becoming a very hip word to use.

Hard to say. On one hand you have to think that all these legally obtained guns being used in all these mass shootings will create a change. But on the other hand, not only has change not been affected by all these shootings, but support for loose gun restrictions seems to have grown.

It's a non answer, I know, but I don't see anyway you can accurately predict what will happen from this.
For me it would come down to what changes we as a country are looking to make and if they would have effected the outcomes.

I think the major reason the NRA fights against any change is that restrictions will be put in place and when they don't solve the problem we will just keep putting restrictions in place until we get to the no gun one.

I think the NRA reacts to reasonable gun control exactly the same way the pro-choice bunch reacts to proposals to restrict abortion. It's all politics baby - screw human life!
