Back at the room cause the back is acting up so I wanted to give my observations...PSU's dudes are just damn good. They are going to win this thing with six AAs and 3-4 champs. Sucks to be an Iowa fan tonight seeing three of our guys get planted in big matches.

Gilman had the worse match I've seen him wrestle, strategy sucked and he plainly just didn't show up. We can bitch about stalling but its not like it's a new thing. I expect him to bounce back and win third out of pride.

Cory Clark made my night. The kid is one of the mentally toughest Hawks to take the mat. Now he has another buzzsaw to wrestle in Seth who looks damn good and very tough to beat.

Sorensen...what can you say?

Kemerer is a bad ass....gets planted and comes back and wins some tough matches. Thats the type of attitude we need.

Hats off to Cash Wilcke...raise your hand if you expected him to get to Rd of 12? Think he has a Burak type of career.

Overall, we wrestle tentative with the lights on. Yes, guys have to go out and do their thing but its coaching too. Lots of tactical errors...I am not going to jump on the fire Brands bandwagon because each and everyone of those guys from PSU are top recruits. Their only one that was wrestling who wasn't lost in the Rd of 12 plus Guilbon who I thought wrestled decently even though he didn't AA. Easy to point the finger at Brands...especially for our guys not being ready to go. The buck stops with him. But it's not rocket science...they just have more talent and they make the most out of it.

I am so excited for Cory Clark. What an amazing win. I hope he goes out tomorrow and gets what he deserves! Guts!

I really am at a loss of words for Gillman. I don't get it, any of it. How......

Sorensen and Brooks? PSU has a mental edge over our guys right now. Not saying those two win those matches, but some fight would have been enough for me to be happy.

I want to see how the two seniors that lost tonite respond tomorrow.

They can respond like TJ and Schwab back in the day or they can pack it in now that their dream is gone.

Without the chance for a team title, they are wrestling for personal pride and their performance on Saturday is about character.

I expect to see Iowa with 4 third placers.

I've been one of the top Cash haters on here because in a lot of the matches this year he just didn't try at all or he quit trying and acted like he weighed 100 lbs less than his opponents. These last 2 days really changed my perception of him. He came out and fought and got a lot farther than I expected him to. He had the best tournament relative to expectation. Let's hope he uses this to fuel him next year and every year on.

Although this has been a horrible tournament for Iowa, I have begun to see a shift in philosophy from the Brands brothers, and the Iowa wrestlers, into a more offensive minded, point scoring mind set. It is a VAST philosophical change that I believe just started this year, and will take 2 years for full development.

Next year will be better than anyone is predicting for Iowa.

Dude, I understand about back pain buddy. I just (edit: don't) know what to say, our guys brought it tonight. I never wouldve predicted what Zain did to Sorenson. Silver lining, Lee, Teasdale, Murin, Warner

Great job by Cash, one win away from AA! What a few takedowns can do to ones confidence. Great effort these past 2 days
Great job by Cash this year I feel he and Hollaway stepped up and did all they could. True 84 and 97 lbers moving up weights after Stolls injury. Be interesting to see how they perform next year at their true weights

Maybe with Brooks you have a point, but Sorensen was the one giving Zain mental problems when they wrestled at Carver!

This sport can drive you nuts. I mean, Brooks KILLS Myles Martin and Martin beats Bo Nickal when it counts.

The bottom line is that ALL of these wrestlers are great student athletes that sacrifice a lot. But, at the end of the day, they are still unpredictable kids.

My favorite wrestler this tournament is Cory Clark. I am not stroking you guys. I really mean that. Classy, wrestling hurt and respectful. I am pulling hardest for him to win tomorrow. No matter what, he is a champion in my book!

Things will be all roses tomorrow night when Cory wins the title. But OMG if he doesn't come through than there will be holy hell on this board. We need new coaches, we need to have more fun and the list goes on...Just read the crap tomorrow night. Hopefully Tom can convince Cory to have fun and I'm sure this is whats win championships in tight matches..Smile

Honest question...and any time I've ever questioned coaching on this site, i've gotten attacked and called a troll, even though I've been on here since 2001. If Iowa doesn't win a title in the next two years, are we still behind the coaching staff? At what point do we say that Iowa should do better than 3-5th? I don't want to be a naysayer because I'll be rooting for them to reclaim greatness just like everyone else....but the final results speak for themselves. As much as we love the brands and what they stand for...this is just not as good as we should be doing...right? at the very least, we should be getting 2nd more.....right???

We've had some crappy luck the last few years with injuries and losing some good recruits. You just can't replace a Stoll or Gross over night.

Gilman got what he deserved. Plain and simple. Why? Because that's what he earned.

Cash Wilcke impressed me earlier in the year with his athleticism and I think it was all confidence that negatively affected him. He and Kem are the 2 best natural athletes on the team, we need to use them as the baseline when recruiting.

Sorenson and Brooks, let's get 3rd and help us get a trophy.

If Clark wrestles well, then he will win. I hope so.

Chief, I had back problems, and believe it or not, Yoga helps, A LOT. Look into Yoga classes specifically for the back. You won't be sorry.

And go to the Ortho Surg department at the UIHC. World class. I had c7 surgery about 10 years ago with great results. Going under for L5 this week. Everything sucks when the back is bad.

Gilman started showing holes in his game late in the season. Practicing catch and release all season long did nothing for his mat wrestling skills.
