WH tells CBS News that they don’t have the votes to simply dismiss impeachment

"Mitch McConnell Sends Pelosi Shirt Reading 'I Impeached The President And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt' "

"WASHINGTON, D.C.—Mitch McConnell felt bad for Nancy Pelosi after watching her get forced to impeach the president by the radical wing of her party, then impeach him and sit on the articles of impeachment for weeks. So, he decided to cheer her up a bit.

McConnell had his staffers deliver Pelosi a shirt reading "I Impeached The President And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt." Pelosi did not seem to understand the nice gift, pointing her finger sternly and lecturing the McConnell staffer: "Don't mess with me." Though her dentures fell out before she could finish her rant, sadly.

"It's the least I could do," McConnell said, a grin slowly spreading across his face. "I feel bad for the poor girl -- so much work on impeachment for nothing. Everyone needs a little consolation prize, a little affirmation. A participation trophy, you might say."

As an offended Pelosi held a press conference condemning the shirt as a "slap in the face," Mitch McConnell hurriedly confirmed hundreds more conservative judges."

That reads like republican incel fantasy porn.

I would have liked to see them find a place for Amash (sp?) as part of the House Managers team.

Would have been a fantastic choice but unfortunately politics would likely interfere with handing a high profile role to an independent who will turn competitor after this. It would have been valuable from an appearance perspective though.

They were always going to call witnesses. It is too big a political opportunity to waste by simply dismissing the charges.

Them calling witnesses is the worst possible outcome for the Democrats because the gop will control the process and thereby will control the narrative. The Democrats should have prayed hard for a dismissal early because they could have campaigned on a cover up.

This is a disaster for them

Why is weak little Donald begging the senate to dismiss without calling additional witnesses then?

Guess those vulnerable GOP incumbents won't be getting much sleep in the near future.

This is a Dem "wet dream" to see more damning info come out from witnesses under penalty of perjury.

Why is the WH even in on the discussion?

Constitutionally, this is a Congress issue. Full Stop.
MM has no business "coordinating" anything with Trump and the WH on this.

Constitutionally this if a Senate issue and they determine how the trial will be conducted. They can do whatever they want as long as they vote to do so. Mitch as speaker can coordinate anything he would like.

By the way the Senate coordinated with the wh during Clinton's trial. I'm sure that was different though

No. It was wrong then too.

They can do 'whatever they like', provided they ignore the oath they've taken.

If they take their Congressional responsibilities and Congressional (and Impeachment) oaths seriously, they cannot "do whatever they like", they need to address those Constitutional responsibilities. That means you cannot run a 'sham trial' w/o violating those oaths AND the Constitution.

Why is it that Magats haven't the slightest ability to understand and relay humor? It seems to be a 1:1 ratio of jackasses who are unfunny but THINK they are to Magats (and their predecessors the "Evangelicals" ie Baptists and "Megachurch" Cults, the white supremacists and white trailer trash who may or may not belong to the first two groups). I can't think of a single ACTUALLY funny Magat cartoonist or comedian. I guess the closest to actually funny would be Tim Allen but since he spent jail time for smuggling cocaine into the US I'm not sure if his Magat appearance is real or fake. But that's it....and frankly he's not that funny.

I liked your comment so hopefully you were referring to OiT’s article and not my response.
In any event, I think the reason most conservatives are so humorless is because they have a hard time separating their attempts to be “funny” from their seemingly incessant need to inflict pain, ridicule or harm to their perceived enemies. It’s a fine line between funny and mean, and most conservative “humor” just comes across as mean.

sending her a t shirt is mean? seems kind of "kind" and "giving" to me

But we already had a trial in the house that showed overwhelming evidence? Why another trial/fishing expedition?

Oh well, the longer this goes on the more it helps Republicans in the upcoming election.
