I think we have a better than 50% chance of beating them in their own backyard.. the away team has won 5 out of the last 6 games I hear? Iowa has traditionally trashed the Badgers over the years such as beating Barry in his final home game as the Badger coach..and let’s not forget IOWA ran off 19 straight wins (with one tie) I will say this..if IOWA comes to play with their A game as they did last weekend against the ole mighty Bucks Wisconsin will stand no chance of keeping it close. I say Iowa rides the wave and continues to shock the college football world and comes out of Madison with a confident comfortable win by 14 plus points .. if they bring their A game we all witnessed last weekend. ON IOWA AND GO HAWKS!

Bucky has something to prove. They have been told all about their weak schedule, not tested yet, blah blah blah. Now Iowa come in ranked 20 in the BCS and gives Wisconsin the perfect opponent to show they are not a fluke. Expect your typical Iowa Wisconsin mirror image bare knuckle fight.

Wisconsin will apply the well-known recipe to stop Iowa...8 in the box with the Safeties rolled up and lots of blitzes and back side run pursuit to shut down the cutback.

Then Wisconsin will try to run it down Iowa's throat.

2 things OSU didn't do. Inexplicably I might add. Maybe Urban didn't think he needed to follow the recipe as he felt they were just better at every position. Who knows.

I think TheRealHerky has this one pegged. There's not much else to say. Keep in mind EVERYTHING went right for the Hawks against OSU and now we have a fanbase that seemingly expects a win at undefeated Wisconsin. I am expecting a loss of like 20-13 and a complete meltdown on this board. I also admit I got the OSU game incredibly wrong!

Agree with RealHerky and Pepperman. I'd say more like a 25% chance of a W. Bucky will be stoked. I think their D will put more pressure on Stanley and force them to throw to somebody other than the TE's. Their running game will keep Iowa's D on the field much more than OSU's. And I don't think the Hawks are going to pick up 4 TO's including a pick 6.

Hawks have a reasonable chance to get this one, but they are NOT going to sneak up on Wisky like they did OSU.

Here's another way to think about it. While I realize Wisconsin uses a 3-4, if they play "straight up" defense and Iowa can both run and throw, the result gets ugly quick. That's what OSU inexplicably did. On the other hand, if they stack the box and run blitz, they can almost certainly make Iowa one dimensional, and when Iowa does try to pass, can Stanley and his WRs/TEs have enough time to 1) get open, 2) make a decent throw, and gulp 3) catch the ball?

Wisconsin once again has a roster full of big, tough, hard knocking studs. They will give the Hawks everything they have got and I expect this game to be a good old fashioned slober-knocker,

Many righfully point to Wisconsins schedule. Its true they have not been tested by another team at the same weight. But just as Iowa is a team built to defeat Wisconsin, the Badgers are also built to beat a team like the Hawkeyes.

If there is one variable that will help mitigate the Camp Randall advantage it will be at QB IMHO. I think Stanley is a better QB in the passing game than Hornibrook

I look for a close one TD difference type of affair. If this game is played in the 20's or 30's instead of the teens I like Iowa's chance even that much better.

Iowa 27
Wisc 23

Wisky's defense has several key injuries and their depth is going to show. IF....Iowa spreads them out more often then not and makes their back up linebackers cover Hochensen and Fant...I predict Iowa to look pretty darn good versus their defense. Spread em out...tight ends and Wadley out of the back field and then work back to runs from that formation. I predict Wisky has troubles staying with those Iowa options. Bad weather will help as long as the wind doesn't become a factor.

Another factor might be the weather. I have heard that it might get wet/freeze come Saturday afternoon. I think this hurts IA more than WIS because we are starting to come into our own throwing the ball.

Also, think WIS has been told all week that they havent played anyone and are trying to use this game as a statement.

They are good, solid, sound, but beatable...Play smart, creative, and win the turnover battle and I dont see why we can't come home with a V...

Wisconsin will apply the well-known recipe to stop Iowa...8 in the box with the Safeties rolled up and lots of blitzes and back side run pursuit to shut down the cutback.
This will certainly be the game plan. It comes down to whether or not Stanley and the Iowa receivers can make them pay a price. If they are paying a price, they will make adjustments, and those adjustments will open up lanes for the RBs.

I think Hornibrook will look like he should have put on a Hawkeye uniform,.... pay attention Jackson...

50/50. We know Wisconsin will show up, but which Iowa team shows up. It’ll be 20-17 either way or 34-20 Iowa.

I think it is fair to say Iowa is playing there best football right now. Rather than being an emotional win, it was a win that help prove to themselves how good they are. You will be seeing a confident, hungry Iowa team travel to camp randall.
How do they match up?
Defensively, really well. We have a stronger defensive line than I thought we would along with the best MLBer (possibly LBing core) in the big ten. Wisconsin has to throw the ball to win. They will not win being one dimensional.
Offensively, it depends. I have said it all year. Iowa offense is only as good as the mistakes they make. The key to Iowa offense is FOCUS. Dropped balls, turnovers, and penalties are nothing but a lack of focus.
In conclusion, an Iowa win rest only on the defense playing opportunistic football and the offense keeping mistakes to a minimum.

So, Wisconsin will be coming in to make a statement, eh? They are really excited and motivated, huh? They'll be fighting to save their unbeaten season, their shot at a conference title, and a chance at the CFP, you say? That's a LOT of incentives. Too many, perhaps.

I've watched Bucky over the season, and while I certainly respect their program, I don't think Iowa should forfeit.

The key for the Hawkeyes is to play with the same aggressive attitude and play calling we saw against Ohio State. If the Hawks do that, I think we'll enjoy the results of this one.

Lived there 3 years. Lacrosse was OK. Enjoyed the river and outdoor activities.

Oh, you're talking about Bucky. They always played second fiddle to the Packers.

My concern is that Wis OL size will over power our DL. So the run us to death.

There was a game about 10 years ago where I was sure there was no way we'd stop their run game. They had a fast powerful RB and a massive (over 325 average) and athletic o-line. Sure enough, the first possession they ran at will...6+ yards per carry. By halfway through the 2nd quarter we took over. I don't know how or why, but we shut 'em down. Hoping that happens this time.

In general, as mentioned above, QB play may be the x factor. I don't think either team wins being one-dimensional.

Those boys held up just fine against osu and psu Parker rotates A lot the cold weather will help with fatigue unfortunately for wisky to many injured on defense safety lb dl the boys up front for iowa I believe will push wisky around wisky has bulldozers we have a good group too .our advantage experience on defense and many weapons on offense

On eye test we win I would be more concerned if there defense wasn't so beat up.i just think our offense will be too much for wisky I hope

My hopes are pinned on Parker's boys holding the badgers to under 10 and hoping that bf's offense (and punt returners for that matter) doesn't give away short field turnovers. Coz we aren't scoring more than 13 on the badgers on the road.

They're playing to protect their perfect season,... we don't have that distraction.

The real key to this game is to get a lead early and press the advantage. They are not a team that will respond well to that. I would encourage KF to take the ball and for BF to have his best plays ready for the start of the game.

I think that Iowa will bring its A game to Madison because a lot is on the line, potentially if we win this week, Michigan is much improved and it becomes a 1 game season for Wisconsin to win the west. Its important to set a physical tone and hopefully Iowa and Michigan being 2 very physical teams would mean a beat up Wisconsin not ready for a rivalry road game vs Minnesota. Bad team or not Fleck will want a win to secure bowl eligibility and to set a tone in his first year. This is a tough, tough stretch for them if we put pressure on them.

In watching their games this year, I haven't been particularly impressed. They've been able to manhandle the teams they've faced late in ball games, but if forced to pass (or if they simply do pass) they have not been consistent or successful. They also lost their best WR as well and TE Fumigalli has been beat up this season. On defense they have been more opportunistic rather than being an overwhelming team rushing the passer or stopping the run like we've seen in the past. Part of this has to do with a weakened linebacker corps that has been beaten up. They're just about out of linebackers, actually. Iowa should have a massive advantage in 2 TE sets considering the health of our group and how good they have been.

Wisconsin is a good team, but outside of their OL and RB1 they're not very talented. I've never been all that impressed with Chryst as a coach. They look a lot like 2015 us. Hopefully without the unblemished record though after this game. Time to expose em.

Leon Jacobs, Andrew Van Ginkel, Ryan Connolly, Garret Dooley, TJ Edwards, Tyler Johnson are ALL healthy and represent our four OLBs who have played all season on the outside and Connolly and Edwards are our Inside Backers.
Yes, Orr is injured and Arrington Farrar the four star former safety who has seen the field all season at ILB steps up followed by a highly regarded Walk On Mike Maskalunas, who was the star in training camp.

I guarantee we score more than 13.
We'll see. Wisky's D is solid (even a bit different schematically) and the road games at nw and msu were so nightmarish on O that I think the ghost of Kinnick alone was responsible for the respectable showings against psu and osu.

Yes. Osu did not do the formula that was giving us much trouble. So must be prepared to SPLIT box .Like I say Mr.Akrum waay wide.Don Patterson says same thing.Space for our Ronnie Harmon type AA. Hawk players tough.Like a beach saying. They do not like "SAND" kicked in their face. Stop the rb and we have good shot! Hard game.Oh pray for surf huh.

I really don't think this is accurate though. 2015 Iowa was not a fraud of a team, and I'm not suggesting 2017 Wisconsin is either... but that Iowa team fought its ass off during the B1G championship and then just didn't seem to know how to recover / wore the wrong shoes / ran into the best player / crapped its pants in the Rose. But keep in mind 2015 Iowa beat two ranked teams on the way to 12-0.

I was at their game earlier this season in Lincoln. I came away feeling pretty confident that we could hang with them and win. If we are able to be punching back late 3rd early 4th I like our chances a lot more. O line needs to get the first step like they did last week. If they do, I think the message boards will be talking about the "what ifs" from earlier this season even more. Go Hawks

From my limited viewing of Wisconsin this year, I'd say that despite being 9-0, they are obviously a solid team, but not one of the great Wisconsin teams we've seen. Obvious parallels between this Wisky team and Iowa '15. Iowa is definitely more battle-tested, but they've dropped multiple close games, while Wisky has come through every time.

If Iowa plays at the level they played at vs. OSU, they will be unstoppable. The two main questions are: 1) Can Iowa bring their A game and second straight Saturday?, and 2) Can Wisky elevate their level of play?, because they may need to play their best game of the year to win.
