What are the Positive Takeaways

And the Germans barely caught us off guard at Pearl Harbor. How did that workout for our boys?

The outcome was disappointing, but hardly embarrassing. That was last year's bowl loss.
That was a different and even worse kind of embarrassing, yeah, but to choke away a game we had won by way of our normal nemeses of offensive ineptitude, overly conservative decision making, and poor clock management, it does make me find the outcome embarrassing.

And I hope it causes us to make some needed philosophical changes. That the way we lost might actually lead to positive change in that direction is the biggest positive I take from the game. As opposed to us going into the season on a high note and thinking the status quo might actually lead us to a playoff berth, because it’s not going to.

Were we ever up by more than 10?
Did we really have it won?

I once said that was true. Then I thought it was true. Then I believed it to be true. Then I hoped it to be true. Then I wished it was true. Then I knew it wasn’t true.

Well no the game is never over in the 3rd qtr up 10 but we certainly missed chances to step on their throat. Biggest gaffe was Phil’s defense on the 3rd and 10 when of course he came with zero pressure.

Apparently it took him all season to learn the playbook
🤨 How hard is it to learn how to run deep or a mid level crossing rout. For God sakes get him on the field or find some opportunities for him. Sullivan only went in when we were in the red zone. Get some plays he can run and get him in there.

I can’t believe we lost to the Nard Dog.

The Office 50 Days Of Nard Dog GIF
Only if the nard dog forgot to take his finasteride and minoxidil for a few month 😂 I can make fun of him because we have the same terrible hairline… holding on too long Drink.. let it go

It’s the same damn excuse every year

In the broadcast it was shared that Lester said #21 finally clicked during bowl prep. That when he did play during season he was running the wrong routes

Cause at Iowa our WR are idiots

Lester should watch film on how the Patriots used Julian Edelman and the Colts used Brandon Stokely.
You could even go back to someone like Easley and McClaren (sp) years ago…KMM…we had guys that picked up those tough yards underneath

Now we seem to have our TE occupy that space but they are always immediately tackled since they’re not going to be great at creating that space

see bold. Under Ferentz you have to be kidding.....

I was impressed with how they ran the ball today without Johnson. It seems that Lester has figured out the running game.

The defense is not a problem, just hard to expect the high level the past few years.

Special Teams are solid and really did well in this game

Honestly, I don’t think Sully has the arm…so I have concerns at QB1 (again) for next season…😬
We don't really know what kind of arm Sully has...he never had the time to plant his feet and throw.
He was running for his life for most of the game or reaching down below his knees to field the center snap.
This OLine looks like a turnstyle at the airport.

I have been told they give all big ten honorable mention, two straight years, only to the worst of the worst.
Still total shit. It's even a miracle the offense improved at all. Iowa football is just a punishment to anyone who still cares. And the sack of dinosaur bones will live forever and keep expanding the L column until it won't even fit on a page in landscape mode.

The Music City Bowl could have started at 10:00 am when 10% of Iowa fans could have watched live but instead kicked off at 1:30 so a whopping 53% of Iowa fans were able to tune in.🤦🏻‍♂️
