What are the qualifications to be President in your mind?

I've heard KH is the most unqualified person all the way to she is the most qualified from folks.

Bush was deemed qualified with his background in running businesses and Obama was unqualified because his main CV showed law degree and community organizer (with a short stint in the Senate) but it should be pretty clear who was the better President.

Constitutionally the only quals are - the President must be at least 35 years of age, be a natural born citizen, and must have lived in the United States for at least 14 years so from that perspective, all presidents are equally qualified but I think its clear those quals are a low barrier to entry.

How do you define who is minimally qualified for being POTUS?

After Obama then Trump, the traditional picture of "qualified" is pretty well busted. Biden was the picture of traditional qualification and was probably the least successful in the role of any of those three.

Personally I'd love to see top business leaders in the role but most are smart enough to stay far away from it.

Not a felon
Doesn’t sexually abuse women
Can tell the truth at least half the time

The basics would be a good start.
You are not a serious person.

You would rather vote in another feckless leader on the precipice of WW3 than a guy who you know is atleast serviceable with foreign policy because you pretend to give a shit about how a guy paid for a whore.

O we have entire cities being taken over by imported gangs...... well did you know this guy grabbed a pussy 30 years ago? On a chick that can't seem to tell how the even happened the same way twice.....

Blow me.

The question was about qualifications. I’d just like my President to be able to pass the typical background check you’d need in order to work at your local grocery store. I think that’s a reasonable request.

And no, Trump should never again be near the White House.

Trump has made me realize I have some hard lines I won’t cross to support a candidate:
  1. Upholds the principles and standards of our Republic. This includes honoring our laws, institutions and constitution. It also includes understanding the value of military service and sacrifice.
  2. An above average understanding of the above. You don’t have to be a scholar, but you do need to know how the branches of government actually work.
  3. Clean record and generally good character: no felonies, no hint of anything that could have been a felony
  4. Someone who actually understands, and can empathize with, what life is like for average people in the US
  5. Smart enough that I could hold an intelligent conversation on a wide variety of topics with them. We might disagree but at least they can form logical thoughts.
Once we get beyond those minimum standards I look at policy. If you are too far left or too far right I don’t consider your views appropriate for leading our country forward. This was my concern initially with Kamala, but she has pivoted toward the middle.

Even keeled temperament would be my #1 qualification.

But there are other obvious things such as clearly believing in democracy, wanting to maintain good relationships with our allies which has maintained peace for us all for nearly 80 years now.

You are not a serious person if you believe Trump is better at the helm in a WW3 scenario. The man is unstable. He is ignorant on foreign policy and too stupid and lazy to educate himself. It speaks volumes about his supporters when they claim foreign policy is a strength of his.

Also, it should be a great weekend for you…try to get outdoors and blow off some steam…you seem unhinged.

Not a convicted felon.

Not an adjudicated rapist.

Not a business leader who has been sued thousands of times and has a reputation for stiffing contractors.

Not indicted for handling of top secret documents.

Not someone who stole from a charity.

Not facing dozens of pending felony charges.

Cares about at least one person on this planet other than themselves.

I cannot think of any of my employers over the years hiring a guy who acts like and has a past like Trump. HR would escort him out immediately. So, if your past (bankruptcies, schemes that got you into legal issues, sexual assaults, etc.) and your behavior (lying, poor communication skills, lack of attention to details, etc.) wouldn't put you into consideration or fired from a regular business why would you want that person as our president? I don't ever want him near the WH again.

Seemed concerned:
Yes we do. That record does not paint the picture you think it does.
  • Trump enabled and emboldened Putin
  • He tried to strongarm Ukraine for political gain
  • He kissed the ass of Kim Jung Un for no reason
  • He proposes tariffs as his primary tool in foreign trade
  • He is an isolationist that doesn’t understand the interconnected nature of our planet
  • He eliminated aid to Central American economies, later leading to massive illegal immigration…which he was warned about by his own Republican state department
  • He did not solve any of the crisis points in the world…he threw a bit of kerosene on the Middle East by moving the embassy,
  • While I agree with him that NATO should pay their fair share, how he went about that discussion was 100% wrong and weakened the alliance at a time when Russia became a bigger threat.
  • He has been literally laughed at as a buffoon by multiple foreign leaders.

Now youbare just making shir up little rocket man.

Yupp.

We could use a little more taking care of our own 4 walls.

Those people didn't come here because of Trump ya dunce.

This is an out and out lie. He started zero wars and had us leaving under a decent chance at not creating the next generation that hated us.

Read the Mueller report. Really read the thing don’t just listen to sound bites on what is chargeable as an offense. Think about it from a foreign policy perspective. Think about how that emboldened Putin. Think about what Putin must have thought when Trump said he believed him over our own CIA and state department.

Tariffs are about the worst tool in any president’s arsenal. They are a tax on US consumers and drive inflation. If you don’t understand this then let me know and I will explain how they work.

We severely destabliized Venezuela on Trump’s watch. Hell he has bragged about that. His own state department told him the outcome would be a future mass exodus of people fleeing unsustainable conditions. He ignored them. This is well documented.

I did not lie that Trump created unrest by moving the embassy and I agree he did not start a war. For that matter Biden didn’t start a war either. Trump’s ally Putin did. Biden did end one, even though the military screwed the pooch using plans drawn up and approved on Trump’s watch. Both presidents face blame for that fiasco.

And stop with the name calling - leave it for the lesser MAGAs. The only person who should call me dunce is the no pic - she is better than the both of us put together.

I don't think I've ever seen "dunce" show up on someone's name calling radar. I like you so I will do my best to be mindful of that and respect your wishes. That being said, I'm a real boy, you run with me and every now and then your going to call me a dumbass and I'm going to call you a dumbass and that's just part of being a man. Hope we can find common enough ground to continue.

You are an odd duck.
Real people do real shit and you don't ever have to worry about them being real. I called my best friend a cocksucker over a 5 foot putt last Friday and we both laughed, we actually have a real friendship.

I like traveler, I'll respect his wishes, but this world would go back to being a better place if some people got some thicker ****ing skin.

However, I would be concerned that Kamala’s “pivots” are solely to get votes and that once she were to become president, she would go back to her far left roots.

I’m usually pretty good at taking a name and funny enough had you said dumbass I would have blown it off as a funny joke, not sure why dunce hit harder. Anyway, didn’t mean to come across as a panzy-ass there…for some reason the way I read it, felt off your normal stuff. Maybe if you weren’t such a dumbass 😜

I don't believe her *lack* of qualifications are what lost her the white house. She was plenty qualified.

She was just very unlikeable. The right hated her, and the left was luke warm on her at best. She was completely out of touch and didn't relate to people at all.

I think she would have done better than Trump, but there was an obvious disconnect from how she saw herself and how the rest of the nation saw her.

She was smug and had no personality. Not relatable to people. But, I think more than anything it was her fainting/medical episode and the FBI thingy shortly before the election that took enough votes away that though she won popular vote she still lost the EC.

I don’t care if the president wants to give away Corvettes and wins the election.

Just pass a bill that pays for it with new revenue or cuts in other programs or give up the Corvette giveaway.

I think Benghazi/Emails/Comey were a way bigger hit on her than fainting.

But it goes back a long time. She's always been a hard worker, but just hard relating to people. She had a couple scandals like Whitewater. Was very anti-gay until it was too controversal not to be, she ran for offices (like NY) in state's she's not from. There are some other things I can't think of off the top of my head, but just things that rubbed people the wrong way like that.
