What else needs to be added to the Kinnick game experience?

Should they add this?

"that's another Iowa Hawkeye (over PA)...FIRST DOWN (chanted by Iowa fans)!!!!"

Oh please God no. I can't stand hearing that sort of PA announcement. The only thing worse is the wildcat growl at NW, or PSU....
I think Start Me Up prior to kick offs is lame.... Some person, however long ago, probably thought, well, the game is about to start, so let's play Start Me Up = Lame.
All songs played over the PA have to have one goal in mind.-Get the crowd going nuts (and, perhaps provide a bit of adrenaline for players perhaps). The songs have to be aggressive, but not too heavy. The songs also can't be too cliche. Back In Black works, but maybe it's time for a change?
So, as a lifelong music snob, these are my suggestions. If you spent your teenage or college years listening to Wham!, Culture Club, or Nickel Back, (before you kill yourself) go to youtube and take a listen to the first :30 of these songs.

Diamond Head "Am I Evil?" -- Good for the locker room exit from the beginning, or the 3rd down on defense would start at :08 seconds in (Star Wars Imperial March is great for this, but too symphonic).

Judas Priest The Hellion/Electric Eye Great for locker room exit as well

Ac/DC Dirty Deeds, -good replacement for Start Me Up,

Metallica, Seek and Destroy- Iike this one about :43 in for the pre-kick off/tv timeout song. However locker room exit as well. Fitting title etc.

Black Sabbath "Black Sabbath" for the 3rd down at :38 in.

Keep big board full screen more often, like a lot more often, and quit showing a replay of every play and cutting to live action on the board half way through the next play. Or they show a damn advertisement taking up the screen and then cut to the field action half way through a play. Would love to know how much coin they get for advertising during games inside the stadium.

I would like to play the Northwestern Wildcat growl (scream? roar? whimper?) played on the same speaker quality/volume/frequency as they do. So fun to hear.

Beer and music for the student section (the rest of the stadium can adapt or deal with it). Probably better speakers as well.

You should receive at least a one year ban from HR and all Iowa athletic events for even suggesting that.

Take that garbage to Minnesota and Indiana.

Went to Iowa/Indiana game in Bloomington for first time in '10. Actually kind of enjoyed the place. The 1st down HOOOOOOSIERS had me slapping myself the whole game and was still stuck in my head when it hit the pillow that night.

They used to play some stupid ass music over the PA and do a marching motion. Something a grown man should never see a grown man do.

Had a great time at IU as well. Surprised at the tailgate scene. A lot better than expected.

The Heisman speech and Back In Black tunnel walk are sacred cows. Other teams have dressed up their tunnel but I kind of like our plain white cinder block tunnel. As for "Enter Sandman", it builds nicely but I hate that VA Tech uses it too. I have spent a lot of time thinking about this and I think that this would be a proper replacement. (would need to edit to about to about 0.21 seconds in)

Edit: WARNING: There are some naughty words in the first 20 seconds of the song)

Any music recommendations will always be met with resistance because musical tastes vary widely in mixed audiences. This thread is a good example - from Wham! and Culture Club to Black Sabbath and Pantera. Somewhere in between is the Nickleback suggestion - not enough hard drugs in Iowa City to wipe something like that from your brain.

Honestly during the 12 or 13 full media 2:30 minute timeouts a little electronic change up is nice. It's also fun to post pictures from Kinnick and show people what they are missing.

This. Gotta do something when all the media timeouts are going. Drives me NUTS how many LONG timeouts are initiated by TV. Start just running quick picture-in-picture or split screen ads, while offense and defense take the field after a punt. I know at home I actually keep watching the TV with the split screen ad/timeout video that they are doing more of in the NFL. Full commercials I just mute and look away.

That flipping dude in RED stopping the game for TV. Grrrrr

End of rant

Nonsense. (But, please, no Nickleback.)

Top thing for me is I'd just like the north endzone video board to be done. Us south endzone folks are missing it.

Other simple requests like cheaper and better food and drinks. $4.50 for a water on a humid 85+ degree day is criminal.

Less terrible sponsored segments that kill crowd noise - sorry burrito lift.

As others have mentioned, some sort of moderation in the sound system. We get absolutely blasted in the south endzone some games.

Not going to happen for years to come, but renovating the south to match the north would be pretty sweet.

And beer - of course.

Currently we have some really cool things going on:

* The Nile Kinnick Heisman speech
* 'Back in Black'
* The Swarm
* The Wave
* At least one night game per year
* The "I - 0 - W - A" cheer

What needs to be done or added next?

How does your wi-fi work, for example?

Lets face it. For whatever reason tickets are selling pretty well this year. Students appear to be back. It is something Iowa has done that is keeping people from staying home/watching on their HD/4K TV's?

Just curious on your thoughts.
Bring back rev holzhammer and start playing quality competition

The sound system is still pretty inadequate and the songs they play are worn out. Really the idea should be no song gets played twice during the game. “Danger Zone” or “Crazy Train” or “Hells Bells” or whatever other burnt out classic rock songs they play are actually OK but when you hear them 5-6 times every week it sounds like a 50 year old hogging the juke box. Need current music.

I think that's what most colleges do so probably yes.
The only time I have ever seen alcohol sales go the entire game is a double header in minor league baseball and that’s because they are 7 inning games and after the 7th is the cutoff time. Every stadium or arena has a cutoff time during an event for the general public.

Invest in improving the band. Mic the band (if needed) and cut out the bullshit canned music over the sound system.

I've only been to a couple games in recent years. Do they even do Trumpet Cheer and Trombone Cheer anymore?

As for replacing 7 Nation Army / Zombie Nation. There's a song out there that is great (IMO) for beginning of 4th Quarter that no one has done, to my knowledge. Old school Dan Patrick show listeners will hopefully back me up, but it's Wake Up by Arcade Fire. The verses are too slow, but the build-up intro is perfect for a marching band and leads into a stadium sing/yell-along refrain. You could go through the refrain once or twice, then if enough time allotted, transition straight to the outro, which is higher tempo and also a good sing-along.

Intro/refrain 0 - 36 seconds (first 2-3 seconds are cut off, but captures crowd sing-along well):

Here is the outro (It's a cover band, but shows the energy):
