when there are two or three minutes left, they do not go into the "freeze" mode. It seemed in past years, at the end of the game, nobody wanted to shoot and we held on to the ball until a mistake was made. This year we continue the attack with five Hawks saying, "Give me the damn ball, I'm going for the rim!"

Jok coming off a screen on one side of the floor and Uthoff on the other makes it tough. And if the guy guarding the screener helps, Gessell will slip it inside for the easy 2.
You cannot help but envy the luxury of having four Seniors
in the starting lineup. They have the experience and have
learned from their past mistakes. You actually have two
point guards in the lineup with Gesell and Clemmons.
Woody has improved his game both offensively and on
the defensive end. Uthoff is probably the best player on
the Hawkeye team this season. Coach Fran really has built
a power-house team that is afraid of nobody.

What I love about this team is a great starting 5 and a confident and aggressive bench. We made a run in the second half to go up by 11 and the only senior on the floor was Sapp. It was about the 10 minute mark to the 6 minute mark. Very impressive. This just in.....these dudes are good
I'll go with what Beilein said. It's basketball the old way. With four seniors and then Jok Iowa has guys that are good. And he emphasized, "They're good!"
And if I can take a turn and look ahead to next year just a bit. We will be bringing back ten guys that had something to do with this team this year. Unless somebody transfers. Ten guys from a starter like Jok to some subs all the way down to injured Jones or the two redshirt guys.
And you know, every single one of them has something going for them that our current seniors didn't. And that's those seniors. One year with a solid mentor is a lot more than Gesell got, or Clemmons, or Woody. And that bunch of freshmen won 25 games.
