I run it from my computer through AppleTV to the TV. It works okay but I have some skipping / buffering issues. I bought a cord once and have no idea where that might be located at this time.

Download AirParrot on your computer. It allows you to view your computer screen on your tv via your AppleTV. I use it all the time and it works great.

I've had a Roku for a long time, primarily for Netflix, but recently had to upgrade to the latest and greatest so I could get BTN2Go, WatchESPN, etc. I don't recall having any buffering issues in the little I've used it to this point. Works great.

Do they make them / do they work at 30 feet?
You might have to sell the family dog to buy a 30 footer, but it can be done. It appears the "rule of thumb" is over 50 ft is when the signal starts to degrade, and you can buy boosters and what not if needed at that point. But I'm not an expert, nor did I stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night so.........................

I was just poking around on the internet. The $35 chromecast is cheaper than a long HDMI and apparently works better and does more.

My oldest Son went with the Chromecast, but I haven't conversed with him how well it functions. I'm familiar with the Roku on a 4-6 ft. HDMI cable that has always worked well, so I didn't want to upset the apple cart. I spent about $80 on the Roku 3 and moved the old one into the master bedroom for Netflix only.

I don't know enough about all the options and functionality on the phone and what not as far as dual windows and such, but this gives me the option to have the TV, my PC and my phone going with 3 different events or mats or whatever, just have to figure it all out! LOL!

My PC is hard wired, HDMI to Roku, and WiFi for the phone, so one shouldn't interfere too much with the others, or so I would think and/or hope. That's the plan anyway...................;)

It might be better than a "long" HDMI but any wired connection is going to be better than WiFi. Laptop directly into TV with HDMI > chromecast or the like because it is one wireless feed to work with instead of two. If your modem/router allows, a wired connection to laptop then HDMI to TV is best. This is all how it was explained to me and my experience. I'm not an expert.

Sloe - You get BTN2GO through your Roku?
I do indeed. I should state that I have Xfinity-Comcast Cable, which costs me about $7,000 a month (exaggerating a bit but doesn't seem by much! Ha!).

I don't know how it works with a Dish, but since I have ESPN and BTN Networks on my Cable, all I have to do is enter my Comcast information to enable the BTN2go and WatchESPN apps initially on the Roku, so it syncs with my Cable account and recognizes you're a paying customer, and from then on you're good to go.

I guess we're lucky to have a smart tv that syncs with the computer in the other room via wi-fi. We just have to remember passwords.

We watch movies on netflix this way with little or no buffering issues.

Thanks! Did not realize their was a BTN channel on Roku. Just added the channel, and good to go. I am looking smarter all the time for getting a Roku TV after our regular flat screen gave up the ghost. :)
