This happened in 2019, but is just now coming into public view. In a team meeting McDermott apparently was trying to get his team to think about unity, and coming together to achieve goals. He used a very odd example, the 9/11 terrorists. I heard a segment on the radio about this, and the hosts immediately said, "If you have to go 9/11, why not talk about the first responders coming together to save people. Or, what about Navy SEALS taking out Bin Laden? That's teamwork".
McDermott had to schedule a clumsy press event yesterday to apologize and take questions, creating a distraction for his team, and making it easier to fire him when the Bills finish underperforming this year.
