When did the word 'to' become the word 'ta'?

In the last couple of weeks I have noticed this happening at I would guess about 90% usage of 'ta' instead of 'to'
Anyways it is annoying and needs to be stopped immediately.

It is a lot easier to hit the "a" on the keyboard than the "o" and people are getting lazy.

I think changing "the" to "da" bugs me worse.

And don't get me started on changing "have" to "of" as in "could of" or "should of."

The one that bugs the hell out of me is "dem" instead of "them."
