Iowa (6)

Record: 5-0, 1-0 in the Big Ten.

What’s gone well: A year after losing its last two Big Ten games by a combined five points, the Hawkeyes have won a couple close ones – by four at Wisconsin and by three over Pittsburgh. They’ve shown flashes of explosive offense behind the rejuvenated C.J. Beathard, and some opportunistic defense (four forced turnovers against the Badgers).

What could be better: In the first game against Big Ten competition, the offense went back to looking as pedestrian as it had in recent seasons (10 points scored, 221 total yards). In a very average offensive league, the Hawkeyes are among the most average teams.

Expiration date: Oct. 17, at Northwestern. Beathard’s production has been declining in Iowa’s last two real games (walloping awful North Texas doesn’t count), and the Wildcats have the defense to continue that trend.

I actually agree with Pat. Not saying we will lose the game. But I would lean towards NW beating us. I would like our chances a lot better with Tevaun, Myers, Daniels and Duzey all healthy.

I think this week we can get by without T Smith but NW might be a different story. We showed this last weekend that we need a deep threat on the outside to keep them honest.

As if having to play our bogey team on the road, who may have their best squad in a generation, isn't bad enough: I fear we'll be playing a wounded animal after Michigan mauls them this week.

Let's survive Illinois and see how healthy we can get.

Could be this week if Iowa doesn't play well. This team, can't lose focus on ANY game.

Regardless of what NW does this Saturday, I have no illusions about running through the rest of the schedule until we get past them. Teavaun was the one guy that could cause them huge problems. I do anticipate a better showing by our passing offense than what we had against Wisconsin, but I'm just not sure it will be enough. Last year's rout will be very fresh for them. If NW does lose to Michigan though, we'd still have a good shot at winning the division since NW will still have games @Wisconsin and @Nebraska ahead.

Was at the Stanford/NU game and the physical Cardinal couldn't do anything on O....we're really gonna have to limit the turnovers on offense and hopefully get a few of our own.

Article is right. Evanston is a bad place for the Hawks. Been in that crap stadium twice, both times were dismal.
